Great quality and price
Purchased this for my dad as he has been looking for this type for a while , he is very impressed with it and does exactly what it’s meant to do, excellent quality very heavy as I’m told it’s meant to be and even better value , very good quality blades and very easy to adjust if needed , definitely would recommend.

Good Value
Considering the price paid, I wasn't expecting much, but this plane was surprisingly good quality. Apart from a quick sharpen of the iron the plane was ready to go, a bit more fettling to taste (smooth up the cap iron/chip breaker, round off the toe and heel). The sole was flat, the depth adjust yoke/'Y' lever was a nice cast part not stamped metal as you usually get on budget planes, and the tote and knob were well finished and secure. Overall it looks great and works well. For a beginner looking for a jointer you'd be hard pressed to find a better entry.

Nice plane, shame about the blade
For the price, this is an excellent plane. The base is flat, the sides are square, the handles are comfortable, the adjusters work, the frog is (roughly) true. However, the blade is terrible. When it arrived I flattened the back of the blade and sharpened it, it took a good edge and I set to work using it. I was flattening a piece of ash but before I'd finished I stated noticing lines in the otherwise smooth surface left after a pass of the plane. A magnifying glass showed several small nicks in the edge of the blade, something I've not seen in any of my other planes and certainly not what I'd expect after a very limited amout of use. I went back to my old Stanley No 6 while I waited for a replacement blade (a Stanley) to arrive. Neither the No 6, nor the Faithful No 7 once fitted with a new blade showed the sort of chipping on the edge that I was getting on the Faithful blade. Overall a good plane but budget for an additional blade. Photo shows the chipped edge of the blade taken by holding a jeweller's magnifying glass up against my phone - the edge looks curved because of the lens.

Workmanlike - big plane for big timbers
It's a faithful made tool... not a Veritas nor a rider. It's exactly as expected, made to do its job at a sensible price. The sole is flat enough and square to the sides, the iron isn't the best in the world but it will take an edge that holds far longer than your arms will want to plough wood Price, ruggedness... Out the box Fit for the purpose of working WITH not working ON and subsequent essay reviews about how is been flatted, honed at X angle with a gazillion grit obscure abrasive... Get one, use & abuse, sleep easy that it's simply a tool that's not cost silly money

A new plane is a kit
Doesn't matter how much you spend you can't use a plane out of the box think of it as a kit the bottom needs flattening and the back of the blade so has the chip breaker every plane needs setting up

Number 7 bench plane
Haven't had time to use it yet looks and feels right, abit of fettling, very good plane, well worth the money, five star*****

OK but get what you pay for
Not sure what sheerness and thickness have to do with this review but.... Ordered one... It was faulty, very badly cast steel, had to return, new one seems better but took a fair bit of setting up... Bases on both were off... The first one was was off in one direction and the next one was the opposite way so the casting is pretty poorly done... No consistency. It does work but you get what you pay for... Its good at flattening out wood.... But is it my favorite plane? No... No its not.... I tend to grip hold of my older ones still which seem to do a better job....

Unusable damaged blade
Quality plane which you can feel with the weight and action of the plane itself. However, quality control is non existent on the one. The blade arrived cracked and unusable. I don't have a bench grinder so I'll have to either pay for a new blade or send it to get reground. Very disappointed as I can't fault the plane itself.

Came flat and sharp, started planing within 5 minutes of opening the box. I prefer the screw instead of the lever, easy to set up. Only design flaw is that the sharp end of the lever cap can't be used to tighten the chipbreaker screw. Depth adjustment screw is pretty fine which is nice. Was able to flatten a board cross-grain easily.

Not perfect 90 deg between sides and sole, but otherwise nice quality.

So I received this thing today and I have to admit I had trepidation. The price is quite low and it is certainly not a well establish name like Stanley, Lei Neilson or Veritas. SURPRISE! The shoe is straight, the mouth is square and straight, the adjustable frog is flat on the face and mounts flat on the shoe. The chip break is properly fitted and fits tightly against the iron and the pressure plate has been milled to put good event pressure on the blade assembly. AND, the iron was sharp, right out of the box. All of the components are beefy and the side of the shoe are square to the base. After minor adjustment the plane passed smoothly through the material (4 inch wide mahogany). If this company can continue to deliver this quality, I can’t imagine ever wanting to buy another brand. Take this from a guy that was jack planing white oak on a 28 foot home built boat hull (chines and batons) at 11 years of age. The plane? A Miller Falls #5. This plane is as good or better than any vintage Stanley I’ve ever owned and I've owned them all.
