Sturdy & Well made
Firstly this product was dispatched via Yodel so despite it being a Prime item it was delivered late :-( We purchased this gate to partition off a dog area for 3 large, young, energetic dogs. We have tried several other types but all have either failed or not been practical so despite the seemingly high initial purchase price for this product it is actually very good value in the medium/long term. The stairgate was very well packaged and was also plastic wrapped so would not have got wet if left outside. The stairgate itself is very well made with no sharp edges and the plastic components are made from a robust plastic that looks like it will last a long time. The assembly/fitting instructions are very clear and include simple to follow pictures. The gate fixes to the wall via a low profile plastic strip with a quick release tab so that we can remove the gate and replace it in a matter of seconds, no more messing around unwinding compression fitted gates :-) The multitude of different shapes this gate can achieve (due its four pivots on the vertical plane as standard), the fact that it is possible to add extra sections and the ease of fitting/removal make this the perfect gate for our needs. PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW USEFUL. Thank you.

Keep your dog safe from the road
Does the job well , keeps the dog in , catch a bit fiddly till you get used to it but generally very pleased that my dog is safe when I open the front door .

This was our second attempt to get a gate suitable for our 15 week old cockapoo after it escaped underneath the pretty slack fabric of a retractable style petgate
Right. Deep breath. This was our second attempt to get a gate suitable for our 15 week old cockapoo after it escaped underneath the pretty slack fabric of a retractable style petgate. We had high hopes, as the material/finish seems really good. The instructions are awful and it took ages how to separate the two small side panels (a task which is actually quite easy but non intuitive), that the manufacturer thought it was a good idea to join together prior to use (??). Once I'd overcome getting it set up and in place (yes, screwing into my recently decorated door frame and skirting) I realised that opening the door is completely impossible one handed, and the door doesn't lock shut on its own, like other babygates we have owned. Even if I was happy with the two-handed, time-consuming job of closing the damn thing, I'd fail in actually locking it in place as there is not enough give to hook the latch into its housing (or not unless I apply significant force and, trial and error, to the job). To put it simply, the latch does not naturally attach, after negotiating the task of aligning the gate to the frame, which is another skill altogether. If you are still reading, please, don't buy this. It is crap. It's like they didn't think about owners of pets or children at all. We need to get through a gate in a rush, holding kids and restraining dogs, whilst carrying a pile of washing that has been piling up for the last two months. I'm getting a refund and buying a much more ergonomic model. And will forever be resentful to the manufacturer now that my beautiful paintwork is tainted.

Sold as Pet Design Gate but mine was branded Babydan
Purchased one of these a few years ago and it has stood up well to being outside in the elements. So when we moved to a new house and needed a second one it was a no brainer to purchase the same product. The design has received a slight update to the wall mounting brackets which is an improvement over the original. Only time will tell whether this different branded version is a robust. Will say that when it arrives you have dismantle it slightly to completely install all the parts and this can be not only a bit of a puzzle but also a bit of a pig with having to pull parts apart slightly whilst holding other parts stationary.

Just what I'd hoped for
Brilliant. My lovely but naughty 3 yr old rottie Lola can't be trusted in the kitchen unsupervised (she will try and eat ANYTHING) - and this easy to fit and secure barrier means she no longer has to be crated when meals are being prepeared (and I don't have to get up and check what she's up to every 5 mins when I'm trying to watch telly and she wanders into the kitchen out of sight!!!) Fitting is a doddle - designed to be screwed into wood so if fitting into a wall like I have be sure to have the correct drill bit and rawl plugs on hand and you're good to go! Photos attached

This gate is very sturdy made ,but gate is very hard to work also quite heavy to move.
Purchased this gate to keep our 11 year old Rough Collie and our 3 month old from going all over the rest of the house when nobody can watch them .It does the job well however we find it is heavy to move about ,the gate is very difficult to open .and you can not fold it up when you do not want it any more . It will do the job for what we need it for ,but will keep looking to see if we can find any thing better. .

Just what we wanted
Out of all the items we acquired for the arrival of our new puppy this gate has been the most useful. He is now 5 months old and it's the only 'puppy' item we are still using. The gate is a little fiddly to assemble and is permanently fixed to the wall but once in position is sturdy and easy to use.
