Bear Necessities!
Beautifully tactile, chunky bears made from quality moulded hard plastic. Each has identical embossed fur, paw & facial details, rather cute! Three sizes; Large, Medium & Small. Six vibrant colours; Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green & Orange. Three weights; Large 12 g, Medium 8 g, Small 4 g. CE Learning Resources guide sheet included. Total 96 bears comprising of: Large 24 bears ( 4 each colour ) Height approx just under 4 cm 1 ½ “ Medium 24 bears ( 4 each colour ) Height approx just under 3.5 cm 1 ¼ “ Small 48 bears ( 8 each colour ) Height approx just over 2.5 cm 1 “ All bears are in the sitting position, so easy to use & position. Small bears have a small circular indentation on the base. Medium bears, a small circular hole & large bears have a large circular hole, as though a pencil topper. These aren't toppers, I guess this is for the correct weight of plastic. They all live happily in the tub when not getting up to mischief. The clear tub plastic is brittle. Flexible lid plastic pushes over the tub, giving a snug and secure fit. From the guide sheet... “ Three Bear Family Counters are perfect for helping young children act out and understand abstract math concepts. These adorable counters are also great for imaginative play! “... “ Activities focus on these number concepts; Sorting, comparing sets, addition, counting, estimating, subtraction, visual memory, patterning and sequencing “... The guide sheet gives a brief synopsis for the following activities... “ Sorting by Colour and Size, A Colour Parade, Counting, Zoo Bears, Counting Game, Estimating, Visual Memory, Sequencing, Number Stories and Zero Bears “. Initially I handed the bucket full over to my little one, 2 ½ yrs, with me. Shrieks of laughter followed from the first look & joy handling them to positioning them in lines & sorting into colours. These make a satisfying sound all mixed together in a large bowl, they feel wonderful too. We have used our bears in a variety of ways over the years, both inside & out, from informal exploratory, imaginative play, through to formal math sessions. Sometimes we used their bucket balance scales, which we recommend too. They have been put into random containers & little bags, giving capacity experience, hidden in sand with glitter & shaving foam; great to feel the sizes asked for & splashed in coloured water. They have been printed with, leading to matching the bear to the same colour & pattern sequencing. Sorted into colour, size & weight sets. They have helped with addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, memory games, estimating & find the bear. They have been used as ingredients in the play kitchen & in muddy witchy brews too, not one complained! Imagination & language flourished as wonderful stories were told through these bears, in their own right & with other toys. They proved useful with preposition understanding too, the bear is on, under etc. These little bears have certainly played their part, adding to real life numeracy & literacy experiences. Also ours have proved over the years, enduring pretty intense play... to be indestructible! These are definitely keepers; hopefully grandchildren will create their own magic one day.

Good product
HAPPY with this purchased. Good quality, nice detail and well made. Will definitely last years and years... longer than she will be able to play with them. I think its slightly over priced for what it is. But they have been great for my little 2 year old to learn to sort colours, sizes "baby bear, mummy bear, daddy bear" and I'm currently teaching her how to count properly. She can say her numbers 1-20 but now I'm attempting to teach her to apply this properly and actually count. These are a great way to do it

Expensive set of bears
Somehow smaller than what I remember these bears to be 15 years ago. The size of the small bear is absolutely tiny. The whole 96 of them fit on a not so large jar Otherwise great for small world play. Go well with the sorting cards and bowls.

Highly recommended
Bought for a 2yr old and she loves these counters! Especially when they're tidied away after use.. they're back on the carpet and she's having so much fun sorting them into coloured bowls. They're bright and attractive, although the red and orange are quite close together in terms of colour, as are the blue and purple, but under good lighting in the room it's easier to see. Would buy these again definitely, the toddler hasn't put them down for long so far lol. Great learning opportunities and useful for learning patterns later on, by colour or size eg blue/red/blue/red or green green yellow green green yellow, etc. Highly recommended!

Love these.
Really pleased with these. Good quality lovely colours. I red reviews on other counting colour products and there were alot of complaints about orange and red looking too similar making children confused. But not with these bears! I bought seperate colour bowls to go with these bears to help with colour sorting and the colours match lovely. Nice solid plastic that can withstand getting thrown about and dropped by my toddler. Very pleased. Theres 16 of each coloured bears. 3 different size bears. My little girl loves the *baby* bears. I would recommend. They come in a little clear tub that seems fairly strong as a container to keep the bears in.

These bears are fantastic for teaching math whether it be basic counting, sorting by color, size or weight. There are 4 different sizes and each size is a different weight so there are a lot of math lessons you can do with this. When not is teaching mode they are simply fun to play with. I don't Home School in the technical sense but I do supplemental teaching at home so I'm always looking for new items to use in our lessons. My kids love these and they especially like have access to some of the same things that they use at school. I'm very happy with this product the quality is good the bears are colorful and the sizes and the weight differences mean a good variety of exercises can be performed. I highly recommend this product.

Bought these to set up educational activities for my toddler at home. He was 18 months at the time and is now 2.5. He loved them right away. They are so versatile. They can be used for counting and sorting but we use them for all sorts of things. We have even taken them in the bath. I didnt think he would love them so much considering they are just small plastic bears but this is a fantastic toy!
