OXO Good Grips Silicone Pastry Brush

I used this for the first time last night to brush excess olive oil on my mini potatoes from the pan. I usually coat them all in a bowl and then dribble what’s left in the bowl over them but I just threw it all in the pan last night. They’d been sitting a while so had gone a bit dry, it was the easiest baster I’ve ever used. Nice and wide compared to my old round bristle brush and the silicone bristles were pliable so moved round the potatoes. I didn’t have to worry about losing bristles which is great. It was also easy to clean. I don’t think my old wooden one ever gets washed properly as it’s thick bristle so I’m glad that this one felt clean. I love how the end is angled so it doesn’t touch the work surface when it’s lying there however when I picked it up after it had been sitting there whilst the food was cooking and we had our tea, I noticed the oil still contained in the brush, was all over the work surface. That probably wouldn’t happen if I’d used butter, but it tells me you can’t leave it for long. An old bristle brush would hold it, probably because it doesn't hold that much like this one does. Next time I’ll give it a swill after I’ve used it I’m not sure if the angled head is to stop your work surface getting greasy or just to stop the brush picking up contamination. But I’m very impressed overall. I’ll try it with butter next week when I make a bread and butter pudding. I’ve now thrown our 3 old unworkable brushes. 🤣

Brilliant. Easy to use. Functional with plastic brush head that doesn't flake or disintegrate, so it doesn't leave bits in your batter like other brushes. Sturdy handle that is ergonomic and comfortable to use. Easy to clean. So good I brought 2, one for me and another for my sister. Happy baking and cooking days ahead.

Good brush oils well easy and hygienic to use and clean.

Excellent Quality item

I've had silicone pastry brushes before, but always found that they either don't hold on to enough liquid, or are just too stiff or flimsy to be any use. This one hits the balance just right, giving reliable brushing without the worry of a hair-bristled brush leaving you a little surprise. I've used it to put egg-washes on delicate breads, brush water to seal stuffed-crusts on pizza, and to baste slow-cooked brisket - it's always been up to the task. My only complaint is that, as found in the case of the brisket, it can cling on to larger bits of herbs or spice and can be a little difficult to clean. This would be the case with any brush, though, and the transparent bristles at least allow you to notice and deal with it before you end up with unexpected chilli-flakes on your brioche!

I love the Oxo brand and this is another good product. It’s silicone and easy to clean up. It has some odd looking features to help pick up an egg wash and quickly paint it where needed. Unlike bristle brushes, it doesn’t shed and doesn’t look manky after a few uses, it looks brand new still.

Ich habe speziell einen Backpinsel gesucht, der nicht ständig beim Bestreichen von Lebensmittel oder der Pfanne, „Haare“ bzw. Borsten verliert, so wie das oft bei den einfachen Backpinsel mit Naturborsten ist. Dieser Pinsel ist hitzebeständig, man kann direkt damit Butter in einer heissen Pfanne verstreichen, ohne das er Borsten verliert. Er liegt gut in der Hand und kann super in der Spülmaschine gereinigt werden ohne das er seine Form verliert. Er wurde auch sehr schnell geliefert. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und würde ihn jeder Zeit wieder kaufen.

Het aantal "haartjes' is te beperkt om goed te zijn. Daardoor verloopt het uitstrijken van olie niet zo goed.

Muy completo para todo lo mismo para repostería que para barbacoa. Fácil de limpiar y también de usar para todas las recetas que sea necesario un baño de aceite etc...

We are absolutely an OXO family. Every product we’ve tried has worked well. We got this to replace a fancy expensive brush we had that was shedding brush bristles. This brush works better and bonus, no bristles to shed. I was worried whatever we were brushing would just slip off the silicone but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
