Perfect for active travel
I love the light weight. You can put it in a rucsac pocket and forget about it. Personally, I'm mostly a day-hiker, and I treat this filter as an insurance policy - instead of taking LOTS of drinks "just in case", I can take 1 litre and if it turns out to be a longer sweatier day (or if the cafe's closed) this filter saves the day. Ditto for long bike rides in remote areas - now I don't have to take lots of bidons or a camelbak "just in case", I only need one or two bidons, plus this filter which slips easily into a toolbag or jersey pocket. I'm in the UK, where water is already low risk - this just gives peace-of-mind (and maybe filters out some harmless grit). If you were travelling somewhere with bigger risks, probably best to pack a secondary treatment, like water-purifying tablets.

Light, easy to use.
Filter size is 0.2um means it filters bacteria not viruses like hepatitis. To fully filter and remove viruses need the more expensive version with the 0.02um filter. Good, light and very handy, but you should purify the water with a tablet too.

lighter than 1/2 litre of water.
Water can be the heaviest item packed into a hiker's rucksack. Why not carry one of these and save your back. The hose is ideal for dipping into a stream where the water flows quickest. It doesn't remove the natural taste of water so you can enjoy Scottish spring water from the source.

Lightweight, efficient and handy as heck
Awesome piece of kit, ideal for bike packing or even just long days out on the bike/walking in the countryside. Simplicity to find a stream and fill your water bottle, pump is at first fast, then after a few uses slows to tolerable. Needs a truly aggressive shaking to clean as directed. Light, small, efficient piece of gear. Well recommended.

Does exactly what it says it will
Used it on an extended walk of the WHW. I just took 2 x 500ml bottles and used the Microfilter to refill them as needed. Massive saving of weight and able to use in complete confidence. I also drank straight from the unit once the bottles were full, absolutely no side effects. Will be with me on a solo bike tour soon.

Best water filter I own
Best water filter I own. I use this above the sawyer mini and any life straws i used to bring on the trail. Its very light (thats a must with any filter i bring with me) and once you learn the best technique (slow pumps, let the filter fill back up each time) it performs brilliantly. Very quick flow compared to there filters.

OK but not worth the money
Not really pocket size, a bit clunky. Works OK and ideal for a day in the hills if you know you will be passing water sources but don't want to carry water. Pump part is a great idea but a bit wafty

I'm a long-time owner of an MSR MiniWorks. I left it at a family's house and needed something for a backpacking trip. Saw this and gave it a shot. FILTRATION: It works well, I'm filtering at least a liter per minute with it. My hand got a bit tired after filling a 3L reservoir and a Nalgene 1L all in one go, but switching hands ameliorated that. You can filter some pretty nasty water and it comes out perfect. There's a small coarse filter at the inlet of the line, and then you pump the water through the microfiber filter. It gets >>99% of bacteria and protozoa, and it even deals with most viruses unlike the ceramic filters. Only downside is that it won't filter chemicals at all unlike the ceramics, so areas with a lot of pesticides or the like may be less suited. For the developing world with a lot of human waste, this is the way to go for the virus coverage. The taste is neutral; I didn't notice any plastic-y hints at all. It also allows you to use it like a LifeStraw which is a feature I enjoyed, and while a Sawyer Mini would allow you to pre-filter a reservoir, it would require multiple fills of the dirty water bag and this can be run continuously. STORAGE: I keep it in one of my hip belts on my pack which provides for easy access. It took seconds to pull out and put away. The only downside I identified: the soft rubber tube is a bit fragile as evidenced by a few small nicks after my first trip with it, nothing that compromised the inner lumen. I'll be getting a soft mesh bag to protect it since it doesn't come with one. CLEANING: There's almost nothing to do in the field. They recommend taking off the inlet hose and back-pumping once per six liters filtered to keep the pump reservoir clear of debris buildup; I did this every other time I used the filter. It's nice to not have to wipe off the filter periodically like you have to with the ceramic cartridge based filters. STORAGE: The device is easy to take apart. I run clean water through it, disassemble, and let everything dry out before storing. The manufacturer recommends running diluted bleach to sterilize everything between use and long-term storage. OVERALL: I'm impressed by this device and glad I made the purchase. As long as it lasts, it'll probably replace my old MiniWorks due to the smaller size/weight, ease of use, comparable filtration rate, and added virus coverage.
