If you over fill the porridge pot it will bubble out of the vent and it's almost impossible to clean so I would say it will serve one portion of porridge.

Q: Am thinking of buying one to take soup to work, easier to use spoon than the mug. Would it leak in transit?

The first one of these I had was great with a rubber type seal around the top of the lid and never leaked unfortunately I lost it. The new style ones have no such seal and leak alot and are not fit for my needs.
