ABRSM: CELLO SCALES AND ARPEGGIOS - GRADES 1-5 (FROM 2012)

My former teacher had me learning scales in a book with tricky rhythms and bowings. Please. Who needs the stress? I decided that the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music probably know what they are doing since the books / system are used in all English-speaking countries (except the US, mostly) and the grade levels actually mean something. I decided not to do the exams as they are so involved, but one can still do the system. I highly recommend these books for beginners. They help establish a good foundation. Rather than playing trickier things poorly (like many Suzuki students) one learns to play at first basic pieces, but well, to a performance standard really. No one likes to hear a poor performance, even if (especially if?) it is more complicated. Better to establish a solid foundation, and this book starts one on good footing.

Very nice - learning these scales after having played with lessons for a couple of years. The progression is right on target.

Product arrived super bent. It's a great book but I am really disappointed about the damage. I'm so bugged that I will have to return this. I need it for my student now not after the return. I would like to be offered a refund or a discount.

It is very easy for my students to follow.

I was excited about getting this book however when I received it I was disappointed. There are no “teaching instructions” to them. It just simply goes from level 1 to 5 like you can magically learn how to do it yourself. No confidence in this purchase my friends. Thanks

There were no dislikes all the scales, arpeggios and keys are all clearly set out including suggested fingering, really useful book.
