Axminster Workshop AW205WL Woodturning Lathe - 230V

Had my first go with it today. Being a complete novice at turning, I must say I am very pleased with this Lathe. On 1st attempt it really surprise me. It's worth every penny I spent, good quality small in size yes, but like they say it's how you use it. Easy to set up, only quibble I got had to Run a tap into the thread for the base to fit to, ( which it is recommended to use a base on it) but that was just done in 5 mins or less. Would I buy again a big yes for that. Well done Axminster. Ideal for the complete beginner with very little space.

This Lathe is extremely good value. The finish is good and the machines weight is substantial for the size and intended use. The addition of Axminsters Head and revolving tailstock centres adds value to the overall purchase. A three year guarantee adds peace of mind and the lathe should give long service.

I actually brought this as a gift for my partner who wants to try wood turning. I did read up on ideal sizes and brands etc and this one came up tops Whilst this isn't mini I have been told it won't do our old dinning table legs as they are too thick which is a shame It seems good quality and can do the basics for a beginner to learn.

I’ve fallen in love with turning! I’ve got lots to learn and this lathe is the perfect starter machine for that! Sturdy, easy to assemble, simple speed dial. Great product for the price. Well worth it, although be prepared to spend just as much (if not more) on tools and extra accessories!

Only good for turning smaller items. Blanks need to be less than 8 inches in diameter. Would like to see some examples and what chisels to use for different outcomes.
