Foundations of Nursing

Most nursing students don't "choose" their text books, and are subject to the choices their program requires. A beginning level nursing student can't be expected to know some of the errors that are pointed out in a previous reviewers critique. I would imagine that it would be nearly impossible to publish a book of this size without SOME errors, but some of those cited sound extremely careless, and make me very doubtful as to the trustworthiness of this text. How is a new nursing student supposed to know whether the book has made a mistake? Some errors might be obvious, but I don't know enough to have confidence that I would catch all errors. I mean, isn't the reason you buy a text book because you don't know all the answers already? But for me, the most annoying thing about this book is the end-of-chapter review questions don't have answers in the text! Are you kidding me? First you tout these questions as an important selling feature of the book, and they are cited as a redeeming feature of the book by the person who pointed out the errors. But without the answers, these questions are useless! This makes absolutely NO sense at any level. Only the instructor's guide has the answers, which is a ridiculous hurdle for a student to have to surmount to get the help they need preparing for exams. Perhaps this might be justifiable for high school texts, but I can see no legitimate reason to leave out the answers for a college text. I can only hope that nursing program instructors who are choosing texts for their program will read this review and pass on this text.

One of the more thorough nursing books..

This book was part of my book requirement for my LPN program. It is a great product and it serves it purpose.

I used this book everyday in school, it was way cheaper here than the book store and that is why I love it so much. It does have a lot of info in it, this is the book I used to do most of my care plans.

It is very huge for a first year, but very thorough in its own. It covers all the fundamentals, the skills, and the nutritional portion for nursing
