DickiesMen's High Bulk Acrylic Thermal Boot Crew Socks Multipack

Years ago, we lived up north and my husband was working a job that kept him outside. In the winter his feet would be miserably cold, and he was always buying different socks to try out. He didn’t care for these because they were too bulky for the shoes he was wearing, so they were pushed to the back of the sock drawer. One night my feet were cold, so I pulled them out them, and I've slept in them every night since. This is the third time over the years that I’ve bought more to replace the originals and as long as they make them, I’ll keep buying them. They’re thick and warm and even when we travel, I make sure to pack my socks. Since they're men's socks, they're ridiculously big on me and hang about 3 inches past my toes, but that's not an issue since I only sleep in them. One thing I've noticed with this most recent pack is that they're very tight on my calves. That's a good thing I guess if you want to make sure they stay up, but my calf at the widest point measures just under 13 inches and I wondered if a man who would probably have larger legs would find them uncomfortably tight. I think that over time and after a lot of wearing and washing, they’ll probably lose some of their elasticity and loosen up. Aside from that consideration I absolutely love them and would highly recommend them.

I've bought a small fortune of "thermal socks" over the years, and have been sorely disappointed in all of them. Until I tried these Dickies acrylic thermal boot crew socks. We're having a cold spell, and to keep the heating bill down we've resorted to warmer clothing indoors. None of my other socks could keep that icy extremities feeling at bay. Today the Dickies arrived and I ripped into the package, eager to see if these socks lived up to the company's advertising. Yes! I'm wearing them at my home office desk as I type this review and my feet are warmer than they've been since the cold spell hit. Not only are the socks warm, but they're very soft. The foot base inside is soft and fuzzy. It reminds me of our microfiber blanket under our bed's top quilt--far warmer than the high-thread-count flannel that's supposed to keep us warm but which is a distant second to the microfiber. It's as if Dickies made a microfiber weave for these socks' interior; very comfortable for walking and standing, and satisfyingly warm. And so far I'm also happy that the socks stay up on my calf if I pull them up that high. I wear an 11.5 (US), and the single size sold here on Amazon (I didn't see a sizing option) fits me just fine--neither tight nor annoyingly loose. Just comfortable.I'll update this review if the socks' fit changes significantly after washing or wearing a few times, but my initial impression is extremely favorable--so much so that not only am I considering buying several more pairs--one for each day of the week, but I'd feel good gifting these to some of my buddies in their holiday packages. I HAVE PURCHASED 6 PAIR AND WILL BUY MORE.PROS: VERY EASY TO PUT ON AND TAKE OFF EVEN WITH SWEATY LEGS.A LITTLE THICKER THAN MOST SOCKS WHICH PROVIDES A SOFTER CUSHION WHEN WALKINGI AM 5 FEET 9 INCHES AND WEIGH 155LBS SO I HAVE RATHER SKINNY LEGS, YET THESE SOCKSSLIP DOWN ONLY ABOUT ONE INCH AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF WEAR. I WALK AN HOUR EVERY MORNING AND THE SOCKS ARE STILL OVER MY CALF AFTER MY WALK.COMFORTABLE EVEN IN SUMMER HEAT OF 90 DEGREES.SO FAR AFTER SEVERAL WASHES, COLOR AND COMFORT IS GOOD. STILL STAY UP AND EASY ONOFF. BEST SOCK I HAVE FOUND ON AMAZON AND I HAVE TRIED MORE THAN SEVEN BRANDS.

I’m a big guy. Six-one, 240 pounds, size 11 1/2 feet. These socks are HUGE on me. They come off everytime I take off my pants. They seem very well made, they’re beyond-the-norm comfortable, and they’re very warm. But they’re just too loose on me. If you’re a bigger man than I, with extra large feet or extra thick calves, I think you’ll love these.

I've been wearing this type of sock for several years now. They are a great value especially purchased in the multi-pack. There are slightly better socks out there, but they are likely to cost 2X-4X more. These are very durable and for me they stay up on the calves easily without being super tight. I wear these mostly in the cool months which is about 8-9 months of the year (I live in the Great Northern Plains a few miles from Canada). They are great boot socks since they fit higher up on the legs to keep warm. Below 0 Degrees F to -40F I'll normally wear a pair of silk socks and a pair of thick 100% wool socks under these before stepping into my tall Winter work boots. Much of my work is outside in the cold and snow and I appreciate a good pair of socks like these. Folded over as in the accompanying photo, a Dickies pair is over 1.5 inches thick.

Kept my feet warm, love them. Had to go outside one day during winter without them and my feet froze, did not realize how good they workUpdate December 2016Second winter with these socks and I still love them. I have included a picture and the area above my big toe is starting to get thin and you can see my toe nail.....only just. Now, bear in mind, these socks get washed after every wear in hot water and I have no idea what temperature is used in the dryer other than super hot!.The socks still keep my feet warm during the winter months. I spend a lot of time outside in temperatures varying from -10°C to +3°C and have had no complaints. I do rotate the socks to reduce the wear and tear and this is after using only the two pairs for 3 consecutive winters.This is the reason why I am keeping the 5 stars, as they have performed even after suffering abuse during the wash cycles
