Classic Beauty: The History of Makeup

Such a beautiful book! I just adore looking at all the pictures and the information on the history, while pretty concise is very fascinating just the same! I really like how the author takes the reader through all the decades of makeup as well as the popular colors for each decade. The vintage photos of old makeup ads and packaging is so much fun to look at! Just an all around gorgeous book to own and looks fantastic on a coffee table or a vanity. A must have for any makeup lover!

I have been involved with cosmetics and the business of beauty for many years and feel that Gabriela Hernandez has created not only a visually stunning and sensory book full of gorgeous photos but has actually defined the "art" of makeup and the use of cosmetics since inception! This book is an extrordinay value for the price and I cannot think of anyone who loves to present themself in a polished manner than wouldn't enjoy every page! It's obvious that she loves what she does so beautifully and this is a MUST HAVE book for the modern day "cosmatae" (cosmetic artist) whether pro or simply someone who loves beauty and makeup!

You don’t find too many of these books out there. I really enjoyed it and learned lots of things. Once you are done reading it looks great as a bedroom decoration

As a professional makeup artist, not only is this book educational, but I use it constantly as a reference when working on period films. Tons of great original makeup advertisements and historical photos.

Gave this to my hairdresser for Christmas. She LOVED it! This book is HUGE with gorgeous text and full color pictures. An interesting read for anyone.

Per chi è appassionato di make-up è un must have. L'autrice è anche la fondatrice del marchio Besame che fa cosmetici di ottima qualità in stile vintage. La copertina rigida e ben rifinita e ricco di fotografie, riprende la storia della cosmesi dall'antichità fino ai nostri giorni. Sono molto utili le tavole che ripercorrono le diverse decadi illustrando il make-up di quegli anni. Leggendolo ci si immerge in un mondo antico passato, quando il gesto del mettersi il rossetto era il massimo dell'essenza femminile. Sono felice di averlo a acquistato. Anche se in inglese, il testo è molto semplice e scorrevole. Amazon perfetto come sempre.
