Use it 24/7, in and out of water.
Previous watch was a Phoenix 5. Got this watch as my backup dive computer, and it has worked exceptionally well. My primary Suunto computer, which is air integrated to monitor PSI, and for easy underwater visibility, is what I look at underwater. But I have the Garmin Descent as a backup, and also for recording and downloading the dive details, as the download process is very simple via Bluetooth, and the dive interface is much easier to use on my iPhone or iPad to review the details of the dive, attach pictures/video, and record important information about the dive. When outdoors in the sun, solar charging works, and generally with a full charge, the watch will last up to 19 days without recharge. I’ve used it on approximately 200 dives around the world, to a depth of 180 feet. Also useful for step count, sleep stats, and other fitness information, as it has the Garmin Phoenix fitness programming. Love it, and my best dive computer purchase, even though it my back up computer.

Great combo device
Is great having a device which records both my dives and my health for a decent price. Not really to spend a grand on the fancier model or two grand for air integration. Syncs with both the apps readily and is easy to use. Looks exactly as advertised. Fits smaller wrists well too, which was the biggest fear - it may look and feel too large like standalone dive computers.

battery life advertisement misleading, but overall still good
Overall the watch is great, I wear it every day, only taking it off for cleaning and charging. The battery life is sometimes advertised at upward of a year, which while it is achievable, with normal use (phone connected, inside most of the day, HR monitor enabled, etc.) 15-30 days is a much more realistic gap between needing to charge. This will be further shortened using the dive computer or GPS. I have found that the solar charging is fairly slow and probably won't be worth it for most people, specifically people with indoor jobs and/or hobbies. for people who go out a lot, like construction jobs or hobbies like long camping trips or boating where there is lots of sun, it is viable and can noticeably extend battery life. if you turn off things like connecting to a phone, HR monitor, and pulse oximeter, you can extend the battery life to its commercial length and with solar charging can get near indefinite battery life if you try. However that isn't practical for most users, and while I would recommend this watch, I wouldn't base your purchase on the self claimed battery life.

Premium built
Feels and looks like a premium watch, Gps is accurate and battery life is great. I’m not a diver so I can’t tell you if it holds up as advertised in the water. Activities that I use it for mountain biking walking exercising and cardio work great accurate! I had the instinct 2 solar tactical but was having hard time seeing the display. Seems that the G1 has a better display with backlight Very happy with purchase 👍

If you’re looking for a smart watch that you don’t need to charge every day like apple and you like to scuba dive this is one of the best Very lightweight, confortable to wear, if you connect it the phone you get 2 weeks autonomy and 5 weeks disconnected. Yes its a black and white screen but it looks like a watch not like a mini iPhone strapped on your wrist. The scuba application starts automatically as soon as you start descending and its clear and accurate in the water.

It's very easy to read underwater. I have had four dives in cold water so far, and I am happy with it. The battery is amazing. It lasts easily 15 days with all the activities. Great watch for biking and going to the gym. I had an apple watch 7 before this, and since I got my Garmin, I did not wear it. The data that it provides is way more than the apple watch. If you`re looking for a small dive computer, that does everything else for you at a decent price, this is the one for you
