Found solution to my problem!
I’ve become allergic to hair dye and have severe reaction. This was not the case two years ago, but somehow once you become allergic there is no reprieve. Every time I use hair dye now, the allergy becomes more and more severe. I have tried countless products including organic and those that claim no PPDs, etc. Unfortunately for me, nothing has worked in this long arduous search. Meanwhile my grey roots (on black hair) have become a constant struggle. I’ve even resorted to the daily touch up that washes off before the day is out and leaves fingers with dirt 😞. Most of the products I’ve tried have had effect on coloring my hair but not the stubborn grays. Also, I’m sure folks here know that incredible annoyance of prepping hair coloring. I decided to try Surya. I also combined in with Natur Vital Hair Coloring Mask. Surya is pre mix cream. That’s a great bonus. I really need help for root touch up..the stubborn ones that don’t change color. Since I’m afraid of allergy, I applied in a way that will minimize touching skin. 1) I applied Surya on dry hair. This way I really see which stubborn grey I needed to target. Also, I think for me, damp hair, ends up allowing the dye to travel to my skin faster...and more irritant. 2) I used a mascara brush ( I cleaned out one from mascara in my make up kit). This really allowed me to get to the strands that require attention. This may seem like a lot of time but actually target the problem areas is a very efficient way to solve for my problem 3) I left the Surya solution in my hair (covered with cap) for two hours. I’ve read enough reviews here saying that less time seems to have no good outcome. I would have gone longer but had to be cautious as I don’t know if I will have allergic reaction. 4). I rinsed throughly after 2 hours. 5) after rinse, i applied Natur Vital (same black color) coloring mask to all my hair to help balance the color and shine since I only used Surya to touch up. Natur Vital Coloring Mask is great and it colors the hair but not the stubborn grays . I left this coloring mask on hair for just 15 minutes. 6) I rinsed thoroughly . Results: when I blow dried my hair 90% of my stubborn greys were covered! I see were I could have targeted better the strands that didn’t . My hair is shiny and bouncy, and no evident grays. I am on day three and no sign of fades. I am sure it will fade sooner than the chemical dyes. However, this regimen is easy compared to all I’ve tried and no complains. Best of all I have had NO allergic reaction. That is the best relief of all. Maintenance: I have the Natur Vital black color shampoo and also the coloring mask I can use as often as I want. Since Surya is resealable, I have plenty of it to touch up my roots anytime I want with a handy mascara brush. So even though Surya seems expensive, for me it’s not because it will last a while for the touch up method.

AMAZING! for people with severe hair allergies to hair dye
I don't usually write reviews unless I really loved or hated a product. I hope this review helps someone who also has severe allergies to hair dye. About two years ago, every time I dyed my hair whether I did it at home or at an "all natural" hair salon, I ended up itching like crazy. I itched so bad I had scabs all over. I noticed the itching increased each time I dyed it. In July 2014, I colored it again at home, it was the worse reaction ever. Two days later, my face was on fire! my ears and face felt like they were cooking from the inside out. I had tiny bumps that got worse as the day progressed. I had people stop me and ask me if I had sun poisoning. A month or so later, the back of my ear opened up from the tip to the bottom of the ear. I was oozing non stop a yellow thick liquid. There was nothing I could do to protect it. I tried wrapping it which only made it worse because whatever fabric touched the opened ear, it got stuck. I couldn't get it wet which made it a huge challenge to shower. I couldn't sleep on my right side. I ended up sleeping on the couch on my left side for two months. Then my left ear started to open up, needless to say, it was very hard to sleep. My pillow and hair were covered in yellow crust from my ears. I cannot began to tell you how awful I spent 4 months until my ears and face finally healed. I had blood work done and no answers! I did not dye my hair for almost a year. I am 36 years old and have lot of white hair, I learned not to care. I had almost 6 inches of white hair showing and mostly on the front. I learned to like it, but there were days that it did bother me. The idea of going through that again made me like my gray hair. I finally got my lazy and scared butt to an allergist. He did a patch test and after 48 hours I finally had an answer, severe reaction to one chemical used in hair dyes. They had me go back the next day after the patches were removed (total of 72 hours) I ended up with a total of 4 chemicals that were in the "hair panel". I was determined to find one that would not have those ingredients. I called Aveda, Redken, and other "organic" "natural" hair dyes. It felt like finding a needle in a hay stack. I mentioned that I am allergic to 4 chemicals BUT each one of those names have between 6-15 other aka names! I almost gave up! I went to Whole Foods again and looked again when one of the attendants heard my story and pointed out this box Surya Brasil Henna and in my hair color - Black ! I didn't have my list of ingredients with me, but I bought it anyway. I ran home and compared all the ingredients ! it was almost too good to be true none of those ingredients on my box were on my list ! I was so excited but very nervous to end up with open, oozy ears again. I followed the directions and left it on my hair for 30 minutes. I was freaking out, excited, nervous and sceptical too. I loved how easy was to apply it. When I used to color my hair at home with box hair dyes, my hair always tangled so badly but not with this Henna cream! wow ! I could run my fingers through all of my hair. It felt so silky! I have long and a lot of hair! I didn't think the little bottle would be enough, but it was more than enough. I washed my hair, and it was sooooo silky!!! In the back of my head I was still worried that I would end up breaking out again. It's been 3 weeks now and no bad reaction. I can tell you that it did cover the gray, not 100% like other hair dyes BUT it was good enough for me. It made my whole head look more of a natural black hair color vs a chemical processed color. My gray looked like highlights, like a shiny brown. Now that I know it works, I will be able to leave it longer on the gray. If you are reading this, I sure hope you are not allergic to hair dye like me, but if you are, try this box. You have nothing to lose! At least I know that I am putting less chemicals in my body. As I'm typing this review, I get chills just to remember what happened to me last year.

Irritated my scalp
Irritated my scalp and when compared to the same product packaging and everything was different I have used this product for many years and it’s always worked great in my hair and scalp. For some reason. This one gave me a reaction.

Good Product
OK so I read all the reviews here before buying this product. I used the golden blond. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and unfortunately, the pregnancy has turned a lot of my hair white, and not grey- I mean blinding, shining, sparkling white. It's probably at least 40-50% at this point. This sucks to be 32, young, and having my first baby and have so much white hair. Worse is that the white hair is VERY resistant to coloring. My Dr said no problem to using dye and I went to Aveda. Yup, didn't work. Didn't cover any of the white and cost like $200. I was afraid to try this product because everyone said it was so messy. 1) I did not think so. I wiped down my sink and cleaned any extra off my ears and forehead. Nothing stained. No stains on my towels. No stains in the tub 2) It was pretty easy to apply. I did comb it through my hair, which the directions say not to, but I wanted it to be even. 3) I left it on for 2 hours, as many people suggested. RESULT= Very good. It definitely does condition your hair. The color is darker than it's supposed to be, but I did leave it on longer than the directions said to. It covered my white hair. I can still see just a few, but this may be because I didn't get enough goop on them, or maybe they just took color more lightly so they are just slightly dyed. I will use this product again, for sure. The reduction in my white hair showing is like 90%, and I think with more applications the lightest ones will take more color. I was thinking of going with the dark reddish blond next time, because if it's going to be darker than the package shows, I wouldn't mind a little color. The Golden Blond is a little "boring" although it worked well. So, Aveda was a $200 failure, and this is a success for under $20. Not bad!

Soft, shiny, silky, healthy hair for weeks.
When I use this, I can’t stop touching my soft hair for weeks. I’ve always loved these cream henna treatments from Surya Brasil. I used to buy them from my local health/natural store but I moved too far away. Truly a wonderful conditioning treatment for the hair. Accurate color chart if you do want a fresh color/tint too. Color fades a little tiny bit each wash but actually lasts several months so be intentional about the color you choose, it’s not washing out next week. I love the products and I will keep buying once or twice a year. Convenient on Amazon, too! Oh! And it’s easy to use. I’m not good at hair dying or many beauty methods, this is a reasonably simple system and the kit includes basic plastic gloves and a plastic hair cap. I have long hair, not quite to my waist, and one bottle of this is enough for one getting ood application.

Bring back the gloves and cap!!!
I have been using this product for more than ten years. At one stage I was almost going to abandon it because the dye became more and more watery and clumpy ao every tine i used it it was a mess and a nightmare. it has been improved significantly, thank goodness, no longer clumpy and watery. BUT NOW, the price has gone up significantly but the package does not include the gloves and cap anymore. How hard is it to include a shower cap and bring back the plastic gloves which cost very little to nothing but would create a lot of goodwill instead of irritation for me when I expect them and have to go and order them separately after receiving and finding they are not there?
