It is a cute, durable, and compact unit meant for triggering IR shutters. I expect it to last a long time with its build quality. It's battery life is perfectly acceptable considering the scenario.

It works for Soby A7III, but is pretty useless - the only way to trigger the shutter is to hold the remote DIRECTLY pointed at a tiny IR reader. Which is pretty easy to do from one or two feet away but step any further and good luck hitting the right spot. If you need a remote for macro shooting, it might work, provided you can get your hand and the remote in the right position. But if you want to use it for portraits or for anything else, there is no way. Back to two-piece remotes for me.

This little thing is great personally I use it in my macro photography and its a great alternative to clicking the button on the camera causing there to be viberation or shake in the photos. Works fairly well. I havnt tested how far I can go but it does the job for me.
