I’ve been using the Pelikan refills for my Montegrappa for years, just because they were more readily available. They’re both good inserts but it’s hard for me to do a direct comparison. I typically use fine point but this is a medium. The ink flow seems smoother but I can’t tell if that’s because it’s a larger tip. This a a great medium point cartridge and I wouldn’t hesitate to get another one of these if I could find one in fine.

Cartridge is okay but package comes only with one cartridge instead of the advertised 10. So please be aware!

My department bought a pen desk set for our boss a couple of years ago. The ink cartridge on the pens recently ran out and I replaced them with the Montegrappa refill with great results. My boss says the pen is easier to write with now that it was with the original cartridge. Score one for me for finding this product.
