Premium Teji Pixian Broad Bean Chili Paste - No Food Additive No MSG 2.2lb

This paste is so good and makes the recipe so easy I make authentic tasting mapo tofu (photo) more often now. A family favorite over Jasmine rice. I also use it for other recipes instead of soy bean paste. Great flavors, good value, keeps well transferred to a clean tight lid jar for months in the refrigerator. Have purchased twice, will buy again in a few months.

So delicious, rich and savory. Medium spicy. Pretty chunky: this is a ferment of whole fava beans and chilies, and the beans are pretty firm. I usually either strain them out or pull the cooked meat and veggies out of the sauce and hit the sauce with a stick blender to smooth it out. Storage: spoon the paste into a glass jar with a good lid and store it in the fridge. A clean glass mayo jar is perfect.

I like the flavor, but was not expecting to see just a plastic pack after unwrapping the paper. It was no big deal and I do have extra containers to store the paste. Great stuff if you want to try Sichuan recipe. Also remember to get Szechuan peppercorn.

It comes with a damaged wrapper. Fortunately It's good inside. A product comes from my hometown. Familiar flavour. I'm gonna cry.

This was clearly the "real thing". Because it will take a long time to use up, I repackaged it in jars. Anyone considering this product should be aware, the chili pieces are quite large, and take significant chopping before use, but all worth it for authentic flavor.

Great if you like to cook

Authentic product. It is a must in twice cooked pork, mapo tofu and other dishes to give an authentic favor.

This only works for flavoring a dish if you want it spicy (like hot and sour soup). I was hoping for something that could be a base in other dishes. I'm not that experienced cooking with it, but it's a stronger flavor than expected (outside of the spiciness). So it hasn't worked that well for me. I have better luck with oyster sauce.
