I used a dynamic microphone before deciding to buy this one for my mixer. Buying this mic was the best decision I have made! The ability to completely capture audio in a room with great quality is amazing. I have used it to: interview with potential employers, sing and online chat. I would definitely purchase again.

This microphone is awesome. I have used it to record vocals and acoustic guitar. It is well worth the purchase.

This mic works very well with my audio interface. I use it for singing and it sounds amazing. Clean and crisp. You will need phantom power if you don't have an audio interface. Would highly recommend!

Overall happy but the mic came with a few scratches on it

MXL777X - Mic sounds fine but mic body had damage from the shockmount... Looks like it might have occurred during transit. Not sure if I will bother to return as I need it now... MXL should rethink how they package their product.

Compare with $150 AKG P420, $200 price is high. Look at another review to show scratched off paint, shows me built quality might at best middle level. Now more than $150 I might willing to compare with P420, which I feel pretty good. If no pattern switch needed P220/120 also good enough for any home use.

Only negative comment is regarding the pop-fiter, 1. its fixed in place on the shock mount and makes it difficult to orient it towards the audio source i.e. voice even when mounted on an adjustable mic stand and 2. its a metal pop-filter which IMHO doesn't make it suitable as a legit pop-filter.
