Big, dramatic step up from the stock camera.
I admit, I was skeptical, and I was pretty happy overall with the camera bundled with my G840S. I wasn't sure what, exactly, I'd be getting for the forty bucks. I'm so glad I spent them. Seriously. First, this camera has dramatically improved glare reduction over the stock camera. At night, headlights resolve more neatly, instead of becoming pools of smeary, indistinct white light. I had no problem knowing there was a car behind me with the stock camera, but the combination of better glare mitigation and much faster white balance correction as lighting changes meant that the video capture produced useful images with less of a recalibration delay, at night. If I ever need a clear image from a half-second flyby behind me on the recorder log, this camera is much more likely to deliver it than the stock one, for that reason alone. Again, the stock camera wasn't "bad," really -- just average. This one's much, much nicer. It offers a wider field of vision, too -- and yes, that means a little fisheye effect at the extreme edges. That would be annoying, if not that this is a backup camera, and that translates to even better peripheral vision coverage. I've caught people in the parking lot waiting behind and to the side of my car that I couldn't see with the stock camera -- well out of my way, yes, so they weren't safety hazards, but being able to see them at all is a testament to the improved field of vision the upgraded camera offers. White balance and dynamic range are nicer, too, but I really only notice the difference at night. The stock camera was more than adequate during the day, and while this one's a step up, you really feel the difference more at night than in the day. Installation was a snap, as it uses the same connector as the stock camera. Unplug old, plug in new -- I believe it even mounted to the original mounting bracket, identically. If you're basically content but not thoroughly delighted with the stock G840S camera's quality, yes, definitely, buy this one. You'll be glad you did, and I'm pretty confident you'll find it a significant step up from the stock camera. It elevated the quality of my G840S to the next level, and I'm very, very happy with it.

Absolutely Flawless Picture. A must-have upgrade.
A Stunning Upgrade - Unbealivably Clear! I was a huge fan of my old Pelsee P12 rear camera, it served me well and the picture was great. But after an unfortunate accident where it was stepped on, I decided to try the WOLFBOX Upgraded WDR camera as a replacement. I can honestly say this isn't just a replacement, it's a massive upgrade. The first thing you'll notice is the stunning video quality. Where my old camera was good, this Wolfbox is phenomenal. The word “crystal clear” gets used a lot, but it's the only way to describe it. The image is incredibly sharp, with vibrant colours and fantastic contrast. The Wide Dynamic Range truly works wonders, balancing the light perfectly so I can see details clearly even when bright sun is creating harsh shadows or when headlights are glaring at night. It feels like I'm looking out of a clean window, not at a video screen. Installation was an absolute breeze. Because my previous setup used a standard 4-pin connector, this was a perfect plug-and-play swap. I didn't have to re-run any wires or fiddle with complex wiring harnesses. I simply unplugged the old camera, mounted the Wolfbox in the same spot, and plugged it in. It took less than 5 minutes and worked perfectly on the first try. The build quality feels solid and robust, much more so than my previous camera. It feels like it can handle the elements and the occasional bump, which is essential for a rear-mounted device. If you're on the fence or looking to upgrade from a good camera to a great one, look no further. The WOLFBOX delivers exceptional clarity, effortless installation for 4-pin systems, and fantastic build quality. I didn't think I needed an upgrade until I saw the difference.

Very nice upgrade
Nice and wide view. Whether it holds up to water getting in is going to take some time to figure out

Night and day difference! Literally!
HUGE upgrade for nighttime driving over the camera that comes with the dashcam. No more washout from headlights making the rear view camera effectively useless. Solved my biggest complaint about my Wolfbox dashcam!

Picture quality is great
Why the original camera stopped working. No water or moisture was in it

Compatible with VanTop H612T 12" 4K Mirror Dash Cam - no more blown out issues at night time
I've been using the VanTop H612T 12" 4K Mirror Dash Cam since August 2020, primarily because I needed a better nighttime WDR rear camera. After some research, I stumbled across this model. There’s been some talk about VanTop rebranding as Wolfbox, but I bought this camera knowing it had a 4-pin connector. To my surprise, the 4-pin connector worked seamlessly with my existing cable—no need to deal with re-wiring. The main reason for the upgrade was nighttime visibility, and the camera delivered. As shown in the uploaded images, there’s no more “nighttime blowout” where headlights overwhelm the view. The WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) seems to be active at all times, or perhaps the image sensor has some extra bit-depth because the nighttime performance is far superior to my older rear camera. The only minor observation is that during the day, the clouds can appear slightly oversaturated with a bit of unnatural color tone, likely due to WDR processing. It’s a trade-off I’m happy with since critical details remain visible, and the overall image quality is still excellent. Some reviewers have mentioned that the daytime color balance is slightly saturated. To me, it looks fine. Daytime visuals remain clear, and most importantly, the camera reliably captures critical information. The trade-off is well worth it for the huge improvement in nighttime performance. The images I shared were taken straight from the video recordings, and they speak for themselves. If you’re using an older rear camera that struggles with blown-out highlights or poor visibility at night, this dash cam is a must-have upgrade. You won’t regret it.

Great upgrade
Bought this camera as an upgrade. Well worth it. Only downside is when it rains it's a bit harder to see but thats expected. Also at night some headlights can look weird but overall it does a good job.

Doesn't last at all
This is my second one. Last purchased Dec 8 25 and it's already gone bad again.
