Fantastic color!! Been using this brand for years!!
I've been using L'Oreal brand hair color for YEARS - and honestly I find coloring my hair at home to be a far better solution sometimes than going to a salon for various reasons - chiefly the fact that my white roots grow out far too fast!! I used the level 6U Universal Dark Blonde. It went on very evenly, was easy to use and didn't smell too bad. I did note that this product seemed to take longer to develop/oxidize than other hair colors I have used, so you may want to build in an extra 30 mins to your hair color routine depending on your required results. Now I will say - I am in my mid-40s and I have gone SHOCKING WHITE over most of the top of my head and around my temples. Like - not salt-and-pepper, not grey - PURE WHITE. I am still learning how to care for this hair of mine now that I have lost almost all my pigment. I am learning that white hair is (apparently) actually translucent/hollow - and, as such, hair color doesn't have anything to work with inside the hair shaft. This is one reason I chose the 6U/Universal Nudes range of color by L'Oreal - they are reported to be of the shade of color that has a chance of sticking to white hair. I would say that the next time I color my hair, I do believe that I have exhausted the extent to which a Level 6 color will manage my white. Unfortunately, I am going to have to go down to a Level 5 next time, as a "dark blonde" color just is NOT going to cut it covering pure snow shite hair. Sighhhhh. Ah well. You live and learn! As an aside - this box color also comes with a really, REALLY nice shampoo and conditioner for after coloring. I appreciate that in a hair color product and I will be buying this again (albeit in a darker color!!). If you’re looking for a very good at-home box dye that will be kind to your hair - this would be one of my first choices!!

Worth the price! My new favourite (5UR)
Ever since l'oreal discontinued their preference hair dye in 6.45 Brooklyn (whyyy?) I've been searching for an alternative. It's hard to find an auburn shade that is more red-toned than ginger-toned without going full, vibrant red. This one was a bit more expensive and I couldn't find many reviews, but decided to risk it as I really liked the colour on the box examples. Honestly, I prefer it even to the original preference line. It has a genuinely pleasant smell (no chemical ammonia smell!), I love that it comes with an after-dye shampoo as well as conditioner, and the comb attachment for the bottle is a gamechanger. The colour is definitely a bit deeper and more vibrant than the brooklyn auburn (especially for the first few washes), but it still really looks good and near-natural on my pasty cool skin tone. I don't often write reviews, but for anyone looking for a similarly warm-toned alternative to 6.45- this is an amazing option! I really hope they don't continue this one!

Do not buy
I have used L'Oréal hair colour every 4-6 weeks for for over twenty years and never had an issue until now. I bought this colour 3U and it turned my hair dark blue black and irritated my scalp. I contacted customer service as I assumed I had received a bad batch, and they would refund or replace it. But their customer service is awful, basically said sometimes it does that. No apologies, no refund. The number of other complaints on here shows it's a problem with their formulation. Unbelievable. Do not buy!

Good
Not bad at all. Colour seems to be what it says on the box. No strong smell. Seems to be lasting well.

Didn't work for me
Didn't really work aswell as I thought it would, bought a semi permanent to go over the top cause it just wasn't what I was after. Nice natural tone though if someone is looking for a refresh
