Vasily Kandinsky: Around the Circle

I've never been a huge Kandisky fan but fell in love with the illustrations in the ad for this one and ordered it and it's very beautiful. Now I'm a fan of this interesting artist! Worth every cent!

This is a great book!

Great book on Kandinsky with a lot of history as well as color plates throughout. Was intrigued by its choice of cover

"Twenty-first-century Kandinsky: a reappraisal of the Russian abstractionist’s art, life and thought through the extraordinary collection of the iconic museum" is the headline describing this book "Vasily Kandinsky: Around the Circle". These 80 paintings and works on paper comprise some of the earliest holdings of the Guggenheims as art collectors.Art book reviewers are more and more writing "great coffee table book" instead of stating how compact and worthy this slightly small art catalog is. This is NOT A COFFEE TABLE BOOK, thankfully! Those of us with massive art libraries have no interest in The Coffee Table purchase. In fact so many of us search more for concise monographs avoiding the gigantic survey and theme books of art. Instead we hope to find monographs just like this one on Kandinsky which documents all periods of an artist's life and work by showing an enormous number of color images of paintings!Finally I have decided this book worthy of joining my art library where space has been an issue way too long. However my immediate rejection of this book had been due to Kandinsky's cruel behavior toward the artist Gabriele Munter who was his much younger student and romantic companion. Munter's career was so badly damaged by Kandinsky that her work stopped being shown during her lifetime at the insistance of Kandinsky.

A beautifully made book at a bargain price showing Kandinsky's best works.

Loved seeing the pics in the book after seeing some of them at the museum.
