Im a beginner at airbrushing and was unsure what paints to buy. Bought these based on the reviews and they are great. Great selection and great coverage

Used with brushes
First a big confession. When I got the chance to review these paints I jumped at the chance. I've wanted to try Army Painter for a long time. It was only after they arrived I realized they were created for airbrushes, which I don't have. So, I've done this review having used them with brushes. When they arrived, it was a bit of a mess. They don't travel well, and bottles were scattered everywhere. I spent some time putting them back in order which comes to a second, minor, gripe. I wish there was some way to have the paints displayed in an easy to get at, easy to see way. What would have been awesome was some sort of rack supplied (I think the price of this set would warrant it), even if it was created from the supplied packaging. As you can see from the photos you need an awful lot of space to have all 6 trays out on display and quick to get at. I'm also not a fan of storing paints in a horizontal manner. So, after the (very minor) gripes, the good points. First, how good is it that they include an agitator! Vallejo should take note of this! I've had to buy these separately for other paints. It does make a difference. The bottles are well made and very similar to Vallejo. My historical favourite paint was MP Miniature Paints (long time disappeared), they were superb for colour and coverage. Army Painter is the same! Even though these are for airbrush, the quality of paint, pigment and coverage is superb. I tested these paints on a clay sculpture I had made (primed with Liquitex). Just like Vallejo, you have to squirt a bit on a palette and get working. The paint, even though naturally created more liquidy for airbrushes isn't weaker by any measure in pigment quality and make a great coverage with one coat. I wondered if I was going to have to prime separate bits (like the rocks that had green on them) but the opaque quality of them meant I didn't have to (so the grey is straight on top of the green!). Also, because they are more liquidy you have more time to work with them before they dry out on the palette. They make washes very well and can also be used for dry brushing without any issue. Last thing to mention is the supplied booklet. Its obviously a selling point for other Army Painter products but at the same time filled with excellent tips. Summary: I think these paints are expensive. Currently this set of 60 paints is £138 which works out at £2.30 each. In contrast Vallejo work out at about £1.60 each (based on a set of 16 for £26). 70 pence a paint difference. However, there coverage and quality is excellent, but that price is quite a difference.

Fantastic paints! Great for airbrushing and painting
I have to say I had high expectations when I saw the price of this set, but I am pleased to say that they were definitely met. When it comes to model painting, I honestly believe that the little improvements can make a huge difference in the result, and the quality of this paint has made a difference. I have previously painted by hand years ago and actually recently purchased an airbrush for a multitude of uses, but mainly to get back into model painting. I was blown away by the paint quality! Each bottle of paint has 2 mixing balls inside so that when you shake the bottle, the paint is evenly and equally distributed to give a consistent colour and coating. This made a lovely uniformed finish to my models which I was extremely happy with. The paint is easy to load, and the colours are rich and spread far so you don’t need a huge amount or a lot of re-coating which is great. The metallics are great and really catch the light beautifully. Once you are finished with the bottles, they have a great lid that is specifically designed to keep air out and prolong the use of the paints without risk of drying them out. I did also try painting with a brush rather than the airbrush to see how they performed with this application and they worked fantastically, this really opens the doors for accessibility when you need to use different applications to achieve the finish you want. The packaging comes beautifully presented, you instantly want to open it and get started! It would make a lovely present to someone as well. Whilst people might be put off by the price, I think you pay a fair price for such high-quality paints that give you a fantastic finish that will last a long time.

paint for brush or airbrush without diluting.
These paints are so useful, you can use them with a normal paintbrush, all be it painting a couple of coats, or you can use them straight in an airbrush, just remember to hold the bottle on its side to fill the airbrush, don't try to use by holding the bottle upside down as the mixing balls block the nozzle and when you squeeze the bottle it will just blow the cap off and paint will go everywhere. This set has a good range of colours that will cater for most hobbyists. They also compliment the Speedpaint sets and also the new fanatic sets. Personally i find these paints easier and also better quality than "other" makes of paints and I have tried a few other companies.

Ready to Use - Deeply Pigmented and a Nice Thin Consistency
This truly us a dynamic set for model makers such as my son. He is a keen constructor of Airfix and Revell sets and a very good war themed paint set was something on his wish list. Important note: This set does not included an airbrush set. This would need to be purchased separately. The set contains 60 18ml ready to use nozzle-tops bottles for easy pouring. Each bottles contains two pre-inserted ball bearings to assist in shaking up the richly pigmented colours to an even consistency. The pains are thin enough to leave a smooth finish, whilst still maintaining that concentrated pigment that model builders desire. What he likes about this set is that almost all the colours are formed into triads. Which means he can gradually build up the colour, adding definition and shading where he needs to. This gives a dynamic and realistic looking finish to his Airfix sets. The set also includes a painting guide and a tool guide which a novice would find useful when airbrushing as a beginner. A set that's very well put together. However, the addition of a airbrush set in further editions would be a welcome complete set for beginners. 5 stars

Prethined and extra filtered airbush based paints based on rich pigments
My nephew was kind enough to review these paints for me and he said.... Every 18ml dropped bottle has two mixing balls added to ensure great blending when shaken. Army Painter has tried to be more carbon neutral by packing the packing the paints in using cardboard inserts as opposed to solid plastic inserts. As the colours are rich so you will need to give the bottle a good shake before use. My nephew commented he was able to use the paints as supplied and did not need to add any additional thinner. Having the mixing balls already in the bottles saves time which is useful For 59 colours and a bottle or Air Fluo, the paints are great value at £2.50 a bottle of 18ml and my nephew recommends the set

Excellent Quality
Amazing quality! I personally got these to use for nail art. I previously used a mixture of uv gel & acetone in my air brush and wanted to try these instead and they're great, they dried quicker than I thought they would and didn't smudge or smeer when top coating or encapsulating the nails. I love that they're pre mixed and don't need thinner etc.. it's also so much easier to clean afterwards than my uv gels were which saves so much time, I can literally just fill and go! Amazing choice of colours including nudes, metalics, every colour you'd ever need and more in this set whether it's for nail art like me or other projects you're definitely covered with this set for colours! I'm extremely happy with them and would definitely recommend them.

Only for airbrushing, Horrible using a brush
Fine through an airbrush, but dont bother buying it thinking you can use it to paint using a brush..its awful. far too thin, runs everywhere and has hardly any coverage.
