Rotosound JK9 Jumbo King Super Light Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings

I just purchased these strings and they are great. Nice tone even though they are very light. I play lead quite a bit and like to do a lot of bends and after I tuned the strings they stayed in tune. I’ve been using Roto Sound strings for several years on my electric guitars and have been very pleased with them, so I decided to try the acoustic strings and I will definitely be buying them again.

Great sound, stay in tune

Never thought an acoustic string could feel like an electric string but this definitely does it. Excellent playability and sound quality.

See title. Strings seem fine otherwise, but I’ve never had this happen before with any other brand.

Do not buy. Garbage strings. Broke the high E upon restringing a Martin BACKPACKER, without getting near to pitch. A Backpacker has a sort scale, and lower tension when tuned to pitch. These are getting returned faster than the Orient Express. Again. DO NOT BUY.

There don't seem to be too many choices for 9-gauge acoustic strings... These were the best price for a 'branded' set of 9s on the day. I put them on a guitar for a friend. They play OK. They sound OK. She seems to like them. Would buy again.

The worry about going to a plain third string from a wound one was my concern with the intonation in these Rotosound strings. My Yamaha LS6 (new) was setup professionally with 12 to 53 D'Addario Phosphor Bronze and the intonation all round was pretty much as it should be. The 12/53's have a 24 gauge wound third string. The Rotosound JK9 have an 18 gauge plain string. On fitting the Rotosound set I was concerned that the action may lower a bit due to there being less pull overall than the D'Addario's but after 24 hrs there doesn't seem to be any noticeable issue with that. Checking the intonation with an electronic tuner shows the 12th, 9thand 7th frets to be spot on. Playing a variety of music with the strings all tuned to pitch with the tuner was quite good overall. Normal practice of retuning slightly by ear to sweeten certain keys had about the same result as using a wound third i.e. it was down to my personal preferences. What I like about these JK9's is that they are really easy to play on the left hand, they have a very good overall sound, they stay in tune well, they break in fast and for electric guitar players they make it easy to swap between guitars. The harmonics really jump out of them too. They are also half the price of the competition and are British made.
