I work on irrigation manholes regularly and this thing is always with me when it's time to open gates. It's light, but very sturdy. The hook slips in the hole to pull the lids off with ease and pulling the lid up is made easier by the handle design. It also works great as a leverage tool for stuck gate wheels. Working with manhole lids is always awkward, but this beats the hell out of a shovel. I also found it works feels as a climbing tool getting to manholes on hills and is a fair deterrent when working with manholes in sketchy areas. I even like their alien mascot sticker. If I had to pick a negative, the blue coating isn't too durable once you start using it.

Based on the price I was expecting a light duty hook, and I’d have to be careful to not bend it. Nope! This thing is heavy duty. Highly recommend

Get this one...pay a little more and get this one. I used it to lift some granite steps (300 to 700 pounds) both directly and with an iron bar lever (stuck into the loop handle), and it worked great with no deflection whatsoever. And the pry tip is the perfect shape for biting under the stone without slipping. The 24" length seemed ideal, too, for either hand operation or lever operation. This may be overkill for just lifting sewer lids, but go for it.

I purchased this manhole hook tool for my son. This tool is used to lift the manhole cover so we can get access to the filter. You need to clean the filter every six months. This tool will save him 75.00 every six months.

I use it to check on septic tank. I can check the level to keep an eye on it

This is a great tool for removing the concrete lids on below grade septic tanks. Very well built and should last forever. The one complaint is that the paint isn't adhered to the tool and just peels away in sheets. See attached pic for reference. I peeled all the paint off and hit it with clean metal primer and a lick of paint, so it's easy to remedy. The paint issue is the only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars.

While I have not had the opportunity to use this tool yet. I am impressed with solid quality of this tool.

Beats bending over and using a hammer claw!
