BIG UPS TO SMARTTHINGS!
What a great addition to my Samsung SmartThings Eco-system at a mere give away price od 39AED. I wonder 🤔why I bought the Button at close yo 160AED yet the SmartTag is practically more functional.

Mostly good
Out of a 4-pack, I had one bad one. It started off good, but after a few weeks it wouldn't stay connected. I assumed it was the battery, so changed it and reset the tag, but within less than a day, it was back to not staying connected.

Works Intermittently
Initial setup was a breeze and worked like a charm. we used it to locate our luggages upon arriving at airport. unfortunately, only one worked properly and alerted us of its location. the 2nd tag didn't work. have tried resetting it multiple times, then our 2nd tag stopped working. we searched online on how to troubleshoot this, but as for now no straightforward solution was present. then after leaving both without battery for about a week then returning back the battery and resetting it again, it worked again same scenario happened to many users of samsung tag. maybe because of software.

With all the chatter about airlines losing baggage these days, I thought I would try one of these. Arrived on time and with (apparently) good battery condition. Setup was pretty easy and straight-forward on my Samsung Galaxy S10. You can activate a chirp function to help you find the device - could be handy at an airport baggage-claim. After naming the unit and testing the functions, I zip-tied it to my suitcase prior to an upcoming flight. I was able to use my phone to see where my bag was by using the Samsung "Smart Things" app so long as I was "connected". The app will even let you know how good the battery is. The device works by making itself known to other nearby phone users, with Bluetooth enabled, when out of range of the owner's phone. So no guarantee that it's presence will be picked up. However, after monitoring the app on two recent flights, I was able to see approximately where my bag was located within the airport terminal. Its signal obviously got picked up by other phones (thanks, airport workers!). I'm not sure I can say that I knew it was actually on the plane (signal may have been masked by other luggage, etc) and of course you won't find it when in "Airplane Mode" without ensuring that Bluetooth is enabled. But there it was when I reached my destination. I suppose it helps to know if your bag DIDN'T arrive: no sense hangin' around the baggage carousel! And if your tracked item DOESN'T arrive? The app provides a nice history of it's locations which could help you track it down. That, too, depends on the cooperation of others! I would've ordered a couple more of these, but I got a notice saying that Amazon will not deliver this item to my location ("choose another location"??). I'm not sure why. But this is a neat little device that does what it says it will do and could help you retrieve lost items. Try it!

👍 top
