Awesome stuff--much smoother and more consistent mixing than competitors
I tried another brand before this, and found them to be GRITTY and inconsistent with bonding and likely to be very weak in tension. Girtech, however, is very smooth, mixes well without voids, and really sets up hard (particularly if you use reinforcing framework) and strong. I would say that pound for pound, Girtech mixes more product volume. Unlike the competitor, Girtech has a second ingredient bag inside which must be mixed carefully. Sets up very hard and very strong quickly! Very smooth end result!

Worth every penny
I just tore apart the first foundry I built using this in order to rebuild it and I struggled to get some of these bricks to come apart neatly simply because the refractory cement was doing exactly as it was supposed to and held them together like the fate of the universe depended on it. My foundry was able to get up to 2,700°, and using this refractory cement I was able to place my bare hand on the 80° exterior. It ain't cheap, but it's worth it.

Good quality
Used it to make a kiln. You may want to add more water than it says in the instructions. I also didn’t exactly follow its instructions for heat curing but did my best by slowly heating it. It has performed really well. Very strong, still uniform and no cracking. Heated to 2900 degrees and it didn’t care. Good stuff. I also ordered the 20lb bag and they sent me a 30lb bag. No complains here as I used it all.

Worked at most temps, but cracked at the higher temps
I used this compound to make pedestals for crucibles in a propane foundry. I ran it twice at lower temps and the edges chipped a little but held up for the most part. The issue came when I ran the third time at higher temps, around 3000F, and it held up at first but as it cooled it developed a small crack, and I picked it up afterwards and it broke. I guess its not too bad for more normal temps (aluminum and brass) but for my application it wont do.

Mix well
Used to repair liner in a wood boiler that was no longer available from the manufacturer. I used a heat lamp to cure after I cleaned and moistened the area. It has held up so far through more than a dozen burns with no problems. The minimum thickness you can form or cast is about 3/8” which is the size of some of the aggregate

Chunky, fuzzy mess
this is NOT CEMENT! this is fiber reinforced concrete. big chunks of aggregate and even bigger clumps of fibers- which ruins the finish. NOT GOOD AT ALL for molding. I have no earthly idea why this is marketed as castable. it is so brittle until you fire it. I don't know of any molds that can take the heat. it broke apart trying to de-mold it and I followed the directions perfectly. What a WASTE of money. this stuff is way too expensive for how garbage it is.

Not recommending for anyone who’s new to using this type of material
Difficult to mix and once dried, it cracked. I tried several different consistencies but still cracked. Not a top DIY pick. Maybe a pro would have better results

Good product but instructions were missing some details. Contacted manufacturer and got the info

Used for a pizza oven. You absolutely need insulation like this between fire brick and concrete or your floor never gets hot enough

Don’t even waste your time it’s actually the worst thing I’ve purchased. I think actual dirt with water would do better than this.
