Gates TCKWP338 PowerGrip Premium Timing Belt Component Kit with Water Pump

So far so good on my '15 Cruze. I was due for a timing belt replacement when the water pump gasket was starting to leak. The oem pump is still good but figured I would just buy this kit and replace everything. What I didn't know and wish i would have is that the kit comes with new bolts for the tensioner, idler and crank pulley. They are TTY bolts that must be replaced and I tracked down part numbers and ordered them from the dealer without realizing the kit came with them. It also comes with an installation instruction booklet that lists a few torque specs which was helpful. One suggestion is that if you are up in timing belt replacement mileage, you might as well replace the front crankshaft seal while you're in there. Mine was perfect at 100k but I went ahead and replaced it.

On an older car I used to have, the timing belt tensioner broke and bent the all the valves. I wanted to make sure I put better quality parts in the car I have now and these are good quality parts and should last as long as I have this vehicle.

The belt and tensioner fit perfectly on a 2013 chevy sonic 1.8L. I already had the ac delco water pump so I didn't end up using this one but it did look a little different than original but im sure it would work as well. That's the only reason why I didn't give it 5 starts, cuz the water pump had a slight different look but only the out part. It match with the original as far as important areas. It's still going strong

Fits 2018 Chevy Sonic with 1.8L. Installed it with no problems and looks to be of good quality. I chose this kit because it's manufactured by Gates. They are a long time manufacturer of high end equipment and belts.

I ordered this kit because gates has a fantastic reputation for being as good or better than oem. I don’t know if there was an accident with packaging or someone else returned this with the wrong item on purpose (in which case it’s amazons fault - this has happened before), but the reason for the bad review is that it came with the wrong idler pulley! (For a completely different vehicle). All of the other parts were correct… I would recommend thoroughly inspecting everything before starting a timing job. I will admit, the correct parts did look of great quality. But, as this completely ruined my day, I have to warn folks about this.

It's more expensive than the Chinese kits, but well worth it to get the Gates belt. It also includes bolts for the tensioner and idler pulleys, and a new crank bolt as well! The instructions are worthless and nearly unreadable, but there are plenty of write ups and videos for the 1.6 and 1.8 Ecotec engines online. Took me about 3 hours including a beer break.

Tensioner and idler and water pump great quality...the timing belt is junk only a 3rd of the belt has the edge protected by rubber the rest of the material is exposed. Not gonna chance any contamination getting into the exposed material on the edges...also teeth material is easy to fray. Buying either Acdelco professional series or cloyes timing belt kit.

Parts look to be of good quality. Have been drive for 2 months now without any issues. Instructions could be better.
