I picked up the GearWrench 1/4” 3-piece locking extension set (2”, 3”, and 6”) and have already put them to work with both a regular ratchet and a 1/4” impact ratchet. Even though these aren’t marketed as impact-rated, most 1/4” impact ratchets stay under ~50 ft-lbs anyway, and these extensions handled that use without any issues. Build quality is excellent, which is exactly what I expect from GearWrench. The chrome finish is clean and even, the knurling provides good grip when working with oily hands, and the locking mechanism is smooth but firm. Once a socket is locked in, it stays put — no wobble, no accidental releases, and no annoying socket drop when working in tight spaces. From the packaging and markings, these are Made in Taiwan, which in my experience usually means better machining and consistency compared to similar tools made elsewhere. Everything lines up cleanly, and the detent and locking collar feel precise rather than sloppy. It also looks like I received the updated version with the orange locking collar instead of the older red one. The orange rubber collar is easy to see, easy to slide, and hasn’t loosened up after repeated use. Like most GearWrench tools, this set is backed by a lifetime warranty, which adds peace of mind. For the price, you’re getting three very usable lengths, strong socket retention, and solid construction. Overall: If you’re looking for reliable 1/4” locking extensions that actually hold sockets securely and feel well-made, this is a great buy, especially at this price point. I’d definitely purchase again and recommend them to anyone building out a quality 1/4” drive setup.

I made a mistake when ordering and should have grabbed the 3/8 size for the intended job I was buying them for. That being said I have already used them for other projects and I’m really happy with them. Will be buying another set in the size I needed. I won’t be returning these ones as they are still useful even though they aren’t the ones I meant to get.
