A Rugged Versatile Driver
I have a larger deWalt cordless drill and it's been very reliable. The only problem is it's very heavy and cumbersome. This unit is quite a bit lighter and smaller in size so if I have to work in tight quarters, which is usually the case when working on a car or truck, this product really shines. I use it for changing my tires on the vehicle but mainly to do a rough tightening and then using a torque wrench to get the right snugness for installation. It's not strong enough to loosen. a 120 ft–lb nut, but once I use it in conjunction with a torque wrench, it saves time threading it off the stud. The price was great since deWalt tools can be pricey.

DeWalt DCF883B 20V Max 3/8 Inch Impact Wrench
This has got to be one of the most useful tools in the DeWalt 20V line-up and is a must have if you are a mechanic and handy-man around the house. Build quality seems to be very good and solid. Very powerful at 130 foot pounds of torque; will easily loosen lug nuts off a car tire, handle exhaust bolts, and suspension. I personally also use it to loosen my oil pan drain plug as sometimes it's difficult to loosen (if you are using this to loosen your oil pan drain plug, be sure not to use it to tighten the drain plug as it is strong enough to strip the threads on the oil pan; these things should always be hand tightened). Remember, if you're using this to fasten or tighten a nut/bolt, do not hold down too long when the bolt/nut is flush against whatever you're tightening/fastening, this thing is powerful enough to either strip the bolt threads, or drive the bolt through. Of course, you'll realize the do's and don'ts when you play with this thing.PROS:- Very ergonomic, excellent weight balance, comfortable grip- Build quality seems excellent (don't like how it's made in Mexico, but can't do much there)- 3/8 Drive accepts a wide variety of sockets and attachments- Small/Compact to fit in tight spaces- Seems to last long using DeWalt 20V 2.0 Amp Hour Lithium Ion Battery (Will accept all other DeWalt 20V 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 amp hour batteries)- 3 L.E.D. lights are pretty bright and light up work area nicely- POWERFUL @ 130ft/lbs; pretty much can loosen/fasten any bolt with ease.CONS:- made in mexico- does not use a brushless motor (more efficient, less wear), uses brushed motor (less efficient, a little more wear, slight burning smell). You will smell a slight burning smell when using, but this is normal.- no other cons so far, highly recommend this product.Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that part number DCF883B is the bare-tool only. You will not get a charger or battery with this item. This is simply an add on if you already own DeWalt 20V Max line of tools.

Small size with lots of power great price
I was looking for a small but powerful 3/8 impact gun to work on cars and trucks. After reading several specs and reviews I found the tool for me. This tool has 130 FOOT POUNDS of torque. I ordered the product early in the day and with 1 Day Prime Shipping it came in before my next brake job the NEXT DAY...awesome.I already have a Dewalt 20V Max impact drill that can twist my arm off on a full charge when trying to drive lugs or bolts. I have two batteries so I only needed the bare tool. I've had this drill for 2 years with daily use, accidental drops and kicks, exposure to water, dirt and chemicals and so far this drill and batteries have been flawless so I knew what product I was looking for when buying an impact gun. This is not a brush-less motor tool but none the less it has great power, good life on the battery, and it doesn't seem to loose much power as the battery discharges is use.I was able to break loose the wheel lug nuts and brake pad carrier bolts on an F150 to replace the rotors. this tool saved my knuckles and my back! It fit in the space easily, easy to hold and manipulate in your hands. The light on the front of the tool makes it great for dark spaces. With no cables or hoses to tie you up this little tool fits in some tight spaces. My one and only consideration is the hog ring on the 3/8 drive. I find it a struggle with greasy hands to remove and replace sockets on the drive. I would have preferred a detente pin instead. For any professional or home mechanic this is the tool to get the job done. 4.5 / 5 stars

Small and yet so powerful
Ended up purchasing this tool for work as i am a Mechanic by trade. I own other Dewalt products so the batteries i already knew are compatible so just buying the impact was a smart investment instead of having to buy the entire set. If you are planing on buying this there is NO batteries and do not have other 20V batteries then you will need the set that comes with the charger and batteries. I purchased this for portability and not having to carry around an air hose and it's great i can do where ever i need without anything attached. It's great because the unit is small enough to get into tight area's and love the flashlight on the front where the anvil is because it illuminates what you are working on without needing to hold a flashlight. The impact has significant torque and has loosened most fasteners i found it to as there is some where i need to break out the bigger impact for but otherwise it has significant torque for most applications. I do use a 2 amp battery just because i feel the 5 amp is a little too heavy and the 2 amp is lighter because holding it for a while does hurt your arm but it's not a huge deal. I just like the 2 amp because it can always throw it on the charger and keep swapping out batteries but for a do i find the 2 amp batteries last about one week but varies depending on the job it do. Otherwise the price was just right and very happy with the purchase as it has held up from varies drops and bumps and scratches and it's still running strong. Dewalt has made a strong impact here and i am happy it's in my tool box and would totally recommend it.
