works flawlessly, setup easy, it's a buy
To be simple I used my existing connection to tv, old remote and I'm not using HDMI to my stereo; my tv's older as well. Through my 192khz optical to coaxial converter 5.1 Dolby Digital works fine (kicks in from PCM when movie starts) but DD+ does not. I think it would thru HDMI. HDR wouldn't work on my setup and the Roku feedback said as much even tho I tried forcing it. Otherwise the 2160p 60hz picture works flawlessly and the 5.1 DD is great if possibly a tad softer on some sources (?) but not others. So works great. I had no glitches or problems after testing it all afternoon, and no upgrade/activation problems (I'm an experienced Roku user). I can't speak for the remote and built-in audio function as I'm not using it and don't intend to. Basic function is flawless (set your Roku and tv to Dolby/Auto out) and it works fine with old remote. I'll update if it fails. I say buy. Having cat cable jack for direct wired connection to router is a plus.

DOES NOT COME WITH AN HDMI CABLE; Amazon made good on it.
The Amazon ad for the ROKU Ultra LT clearly states that this unit comes with an HDMI cable. It even shows it in the picture of the box with all of the included items. I feel that ROKU should change their ad to state that an HDMI cable is NOT included. As far as I am concerned ROKU owes me an HDMI cable. That is why I only gave them 3 stars on the review. They are practicing deceptive advertising. Update: Called Amazon and spoke with a CSR. She could not get thru to Roku so she gave me a gift Amazon gift card on my account to purchase the HDMI cable. The box works good and had no probs with hookup and operation. This was a replacement for a really older model Roku. The new one seems to have better video quality.

Great device
We bought this for our "dumb" tv and absolutely love it! We still use it with that tv and have purchased a ROKU TV now too. We like the player more than the TV at times due to the headphone and audio controls. The device is easy to use, connects to wifi in another room, has plenty of channels and apps, and we've had no issues with storage. Definitely a great device!

Excellent Roku but.....
Excellent Roku device, however....... Picture and response is fine but the remote seems to be rather touchy. The remote buttons for the most part require a bit of pressure to activate, but the volume and mute buttons on the side are very sensitive. Because they are on the side it's too easy to accidentally touch them. I've had the issue of accidentally pressing one of the side buttons when pressing one of the other buttons on the top. Sometimes that seems to cause the current app to close or do another undesired action. Don't know if it's just my remote or if this is an issue with all. My previous Roku was a Roku 3 and that remote, while also having side volume buttons, never had this issue. Unit has an SD card slot to help speed up app loading if you use a lot of apps. I have about 75 apps and when I put in a 2GB SD card it showed it about 20% full. It also has an ethernet jack, which can really improve streaming over using wifi. Other than the touchy app, this model seems to work fine.

Okay Upgrade
I really like that the remote has the option to control volume, and also has a power button. It makes the hassle of switching between remotes completely unneeded, and in a way just that makes this worth it. The other buttons for the streaming services are worse for me personally, makes me miss my old remote. Roku works the exact same as my old one, same formatting, no real difference I’ve noticed with video speed or quality. Wasn’t able to transfer the details from my last Roku onto this one using the same account and had to sign back into everything. I honestly can’t say for sure if spending this much on a Roku is worth it. It still works great, and I’m definitely not saying this product is bad in any way, more just that the high price point isn’t worth it when you can about get the same thing for half the price.

Works without buffering delay.
Finally, a streaming device that doesn't have a buffering issue with Paramount, or Amazon TV. A little history, many years ago we had a standalone ROKU device that worked fine however wanted better picture quality with a new flatscreen TV. Went with Amazon Firestick and that solved the problem however it seems almost every year we needed to replace the Firestick due to buffering issues or the Firestick just failed to turn on. Back in October 2023, my Firestick was having buffering issues once again however on my iPad no buffering issue, so I suspected it wasn't an Internet throughput issue. I decide to look at the ROKU and Firestick and went with the Firestick one more time due to price. The Firestick worked for 3 months and buffering issues began again. Rebooted the Firestick, upgraded the software and removed the nonessential apps and still issues. Bit the bullet and ordered the ROKU and no issues any longer. Please save yourself the aggravation of using the Amazon Firestick and move to ROKU as will do for our other 2 TV's when the buffering becomes unbearable.

Best choice for technology-challenged persons
I got this for my very elderly mother (92 years old). Her cable provider lost an important channel because it moved to 100% streaming only. She was also paying for several cable boxes and a DVR. So we decided to ditch the cable equipment and move to streaming. After many hours of research and trial and error, we arrived at ROKU. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend ROKU for old people or anyone technologically challenged. Here is why: 1) ROKU has lots of free stuff 2) The ROKU App eco system is robust and has many offerings 3) The ROKU remote is very simple and easy to use 4) The ROKU user interface is less complicated (the streaming device from the cable company is terrible) 5) ROKU allows you to easily set up what channels are defaulted and which ones to ignore. Customization is easy. So after some training and regular use, my mom is a streaming champ. It is set up with only 3 apps showing on the main user screen. We have a cable company app that I set up to default to MLB baseball, which she loves. So she doesn't have to channel surf to get there. The other apps are easy to navigate and the free ROKU channel has a lot of offerings. So she basically has everything she needs and we ditched all of the old equipment. Some may disagree with me and by all means, if there is a better system for grammy and grandpa, please let me know.

Easy to setup, no awkward trackpad
Back in January, I decided to replace DirecTV with a streaming service. As result I was regularly using my Apple TV device to control my bedroom TV. I found the trackpad remote very frustrating, so I looked for a replacement streaming device. I already had one Roku attached to my office TV and I like it much more than the Apple TV. Since my bedroom is the furthest TV from my router, I wanted to connect that TV via ethernet (my family has a lot of WIFI devices my Apple TV connected via ethernet.) Since the Roku Ultra LT accepts either ethernet or WIFI connections, it was my choice. Some of the reviews mentioned that no HDMI cable was included, but my package contained a separate HDMI cable in addition to the boxed Roku. Setup was very simple. Since I already had one Roku, it was able to grab some configuration values from that device. Once setup, it was able to identify my TV brand (Sony) and I am able to power the TV and Roku off and on and control TV volume from the Roku remote. The package includes headphones which can be plugged into the remote. I didn’t think too much about the headphones until the first week of March Madness. The first night my wife asked me to use the headphones. They worked great. The TV in my bedroom is not 4K, so I can’t comment on the 4K HDR option. I would definitely recommend this Roku.
