Patak'S Rogan Josh Sauce, 450 gm

I dislike the smell . Also the taste , didn't like it.

My favourite of the Pataks curry sauces. It has a reasonable amount of heat, but is never overpowering so you lose the flavours. A thick, mainly tomato and onion base, with similar flavours, it goes particularly well with lamb or beef. Possibly a little too hot for someone new to curry, but if you like a little heat and warm tomato flavour, this is for you. I hope you found this review helpful.

I have to say we were disappointed. First of all, we received 2 jars that say "best before April 2023" on April 19, 2023. Then as I opened the jar it smelled like Rogan Josh, but it lacks the flavor. I can taste the spices but all together not flavorful. I knew it wouldn't be as good as the Rogan Josh from the Indian restaurant we love, but this was not good. The whole family was disappointed. Patak makes some good products like Butter Chicken sauce. I will not buy this particular item again as it's more expensive than other curry jars Patak sells but does not taste very good. But after all I'm Asian but not Indian. So I can't say if this is authentic or not.

I don't know if I got a rogue batch, but it tastes so strongly of cloves that I felt like I had toothache. One for the oldies there. Spoilt what should have been a lovely chicken curry.

Nice flavoursome cooking sauce. Handy to have in the store cupboard and enjoy that spontaneous curry. Yum
