Review: I first became aware of Chris Scullion via Twitter's retro scene, and was delighted to discover his blog and it's intelligent and insightful writing. As a gamer nearer 40 than 30, it was great to find someone that I felt echo'd not only my childhood thinking, but my modern day mindset and views on games as a result of my experiences with this formative era. As a huge NES fan I was therefore clearly the target audience for this book, yet it has exceeded my expectations and beyond. Firstly, the production quality is of a very high standard. Nice thick hard cover and glossy pages has meant this has already survived several encounters with my 2 and a half year old daughter and her inquisitive hands! Who has been enamoured with those glossy screenshots contained within. It also means that when not in use it looks great on the shelf, and isn't going to end up looking like your actual NES game boxes no doubt do these days. The book has a lovely clear layout. Each title in the collection (remember this is an encyclopedia, not a selective list of the author) is accompanied by a blurb, a fact and a nice clear image. Some games have a larger amount of copy than others, but every game is covered. Many of you will no doubt make a beeline for the heavy hitters or titles from your past, for me that was Punch Out (heavy hitter pun intended) and then I began to just browse through the book, as someone who loves games but no longer owns a NES this has been a fantastic companion and nostalgia blast, pretty much within the first 10 minutes of opening it I had sent two photos of the pages to my bro, my dedicated NES sidekick during the era, with a load of excitable 'remember this!?' sort of messages, and sent him more since. And this is in fact the sort of reaction Chris himself mentions wanting to incite in the intro. In the age of kickstarters, YouTubers and Streamers, virtually everyone has had access to getting their message and voice out there. As great as that is, I for one feel there is a definite difference in the quality that brings with some of the products though. And I definitely feel this is well up in the higher echelons of writing in the subject. And I say that as a self proclaimed Sega diehard too! So well and truly given this my own official seal of quality.

Increíble compendio de absolutamente todos los juegos existentes para la NES , incluyendo los juegos que no tenían licencia lo cuál fue una sorpresa muy agradable pues no conocía muchos de estos juegos. Esta Enciclopedia es necesaria para coleccionistas junto con el enciclopedia del SNES y del N64.

The encyclopedia is filled with information on classic NES games, perfect to complement my modest collection. Also above average customer service - really impressed with the after purchase service - they let me know when it should arrive and it arrived earlier than expected too!
