Bosch EL-52100-AM GM Multiple Diagnostic Interface 2 (MDI 2) Kit

It is a genuine Bosch EL-52100-AM, GM MDI2 diagnostic interface. It is not the cheaper China CLONE FAKE that sells for cheap on Amazon. This MDI2 will work with GM SPS and GDS2 diagnostic services. This also works with the GM DPS, development programming system. That can be use to program GM vehicle modules without using GM SPS service. Purchased this tool as a GM Tech in my dealership. Let's start with me saying this is a Genuine OEM Bosch MDI 2. If your probably looking at this then your either own a shop or work at GM dealership. This unit is just a scan tool and requires a program by GM in order for this to work which is GDS 2. I will not go into the details of this tool because vast majority that will be purchasing this tool already mostly likely know the capabilities of the tool. The tool GM wanted to sell me which is the MDI 2 was $1800 which was a markup price. Quick search and was amazed on found it here on Amazon and was well cheaper than the one GM was selling me. I wanted this for two reasons, one GM in 2020 is making the MDI 1 phased out so the MDI 2 is taking place. In 2020 GM will be stopping the support for the MDI 1 and two, we have about 30 techs in our shop and limited MDI's so when many are in use your stuck waiting for it and being flat rate doesn't wok very well. Well here we are, the MDI 2 is now my own and do not lend it out. I will not bore you with comparisons about MDI 1 and 2 because just Google that but a few things i will mention. The kit comes with all the necessary cords, wifi, and cables. The RCA to OBD11 is double the length of the MDI 1. It has a stronger wifi which is nice because i do not need to connect a cord (just for programming). The unit doesn't require batteries like the previous version. This kit does require a subscription to GDS 2 in order to use this scan tool. It's not something that can be used on a computer. It requires specific software and because it's mine and i have the software on my laptop at work i have the ability too use it at home without taking company property home. I personally didn't want to pay the price but with the two months i have been using it, it has made my job easier without having to walk around looking for one. I am so glad i waited to find it on Amazon cheaper. The only thing i do however wish it came is a case, it just comes in a cardboard box but i have learned to live it with. Overall, the unit is working out fantastic and happy with the purchase.
