Excellent Product - Much better than Magnetic primer
This product paint spread like pudding covered the wall evenly without requiring an additional painted layer. I used two coats for this project When we applied magnets on the wall you could hear the "pop" as they attached to the newly painted surface. The dry erase markers with magnets in the tops are less sensitive and need to be placed gently but the flat magnets can be thrown at the wall and stick. Paint on the floor and on my hands were easy to clean up and wash off afterwards. I had tried the magnetic primer from a local home improvement store a few years back. Technically it worked, but the magnet application was not consistent, there was a very strong odor when applied and it was oil based. It was also more challenging to clean up afterwards.

Can came used
This was the second can I bought. The first can was new never opened and the paint was great. I needed a second can because they recommend 3 coats so I purchased it. This can came USED with dried paint on the outside and can was 1/4 empty. I used what I could because I had a deadline I had to meet but I didn’t have enough to finish the job properly because I didn’t have a full can. I’m disappointed. The product did work but I felt like I got SHAFTED!

Worked well for my DIY
Works just as advertised! The only issue I had was stirring it because it likes to magnetize to itself, but that’s unavoidable. Loved it for my DIY project! And it still works well with a top coat of paint on it. Didn’t seem to change the color even though it was dark underneath.

Good product, but too expensive! Plan on applying 5-6 coats!
This is an amazing product, but I only gave it 4 stars because you don’t get as much for your money as I would like! We put 3 coats onto my home office chalk board (aprox. 4’ x 4’) in order to turn it into a magnetic chalkboard. The Magnetize paint/primer went on easily and we had no problems applying 3 coats on one sunny and warm day. On a subsequent day we covered it with 2 layers of chalk board paint. The chalkboard looks great! All areas of my chalkboard are magnetic - even coverage without any voids! Unfortunately though, only thick magnets reliably work on the chalkboard. Consequently, I had to replace the thinner magnets on my instructional materials with thicker magnets. Given the cost of this product, I had hoped that 3 good coats would’ve been sufficient. If you want your surface to work reliably for all magnets then you should plan to put 5-6 coats of this product on the surface! Depending on your surface though, this could be quite expensive.

Very limited
Easy to apply. I used a small foam roller as recommended. Very limited as to what magnets will work with this product though. I followed the directions to a T, & with or without one coat of paint color over it, only certain magnets will hold. The ones that are flat & playable (like an advertisement, or football schedule) are the only ones that won't fall off at all. The ones with small cylinder shaped magnets (see photo), glued to the back do not work at all, & the in-between ones hold a little but fall easily & are not strong enough to hold pictures under the magnets. And note to self, if you spill & get on yourself or areas you did not intend for it to be, it's incredibly difficult to clean off. Like trying to clean up gooey tar. It took Ajax, clorox wipes, a scrub brush (forever ruined), & dishsoap to get it off everything.

Good product. Very easy to apply.
We bought this paint to use it as primer for a magnetic chalkboard in our kitchen. The paint is very easy to use. We applied 6 layers of this magnetic primer with a foam paint roller and than covered it with 3 coats of black chalkboard paint. The result looks really very good. We created a 40" x 20" feed magnetic chalkboard right on our kitchen wall - just on top of the existing paint without any preparation. The magnetic strengths of the painted surface is much better than we expected. This is a great product and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who is planing to create a magnetic wall or chalkboard. For clarification: The painted surface is not magnetic itself but is creating a surface that holds magnetic stickers.

does not actually provide hold for magnets
Sounded great, fails upon use. The paint mixes and spreads nicely. It does not hold magnets at all. I applied it to rough plywood and used a 6 inch puddy knife to spread it. It applied nicely and made a great filler to make a very smooth surface. I tried multiple thicknesses of application. No thickness improved the magnetic capacity of the paint.

Great Way to display magnets!!!
This is great and really works well, I will tell you it takes alot of coats, we actually did 7 coats but well worth it, all of our magnets worked, even the really heavy ones

I’ve painted a lot. This isn’t easy to work with at all. Not a beginner project. Extremely thick and gloopy. Maybe with a professional paint mixer you could get rid of the clumps but shaking and stirring doesn’t work. And by the time you’re partway through the can, you need to remix all over again. Maybe from a paint store it would be different. Maybe the 4 cans I bought each at on Amazon warehouse shelves too long and that’s why it was so clumpy (I assume it’s the metal particles that stuck together)? Prep your areas REALLY well. It sprays and splats off a roller. Very little coverage per can (it’s VERY thick) and I needed 5 coats to get any magnetic effect. After the first coat I was committed but I was close to giving up. It was good there weren’t children around while I was painting — my language was more colourful than usual :-(
