Cannot go to work without this pen
I have been using the Pilot Multi-Pen, Hi-Tec-C Coleto 1000 for years in my job as a nurse, and it has truly been a game-changer for my charting tasks. Pros: • Versatile Multi-Pen: This pen allows me to switch between different ink colors quickly, which is incredibly useful for color-coding my notes and charts. • Precise Writing: The 0.3mm size ink is perfect for fine, detailed writing. It helps keep my notes clear and legible, even in small spaces. • Customizable: I love that I can customize the pen with different ink colors and sizes. This flexibility means I can tailor it to my exact needs. • Comfortable to Use: The design is ergonomic and comfortable for long periods of writing, which is essential for my long shifts. • Reliable Performance: Over the years, I’ve found this pen to be consistently reliable. It writes smoothly without skipping or blotching. Cons: • Ink Capacity: The ink cartridges are small, so they need to be replaced fairly often with heavy use. • Price: It’s a bit more expensive than standard pens, but the quality and convenience justify the cost. Overall, the Pilot Multi-Pen, Hi-Tec-C Coleto 1000 has made my charting life so much easier. I can’t go to work without one. If you’re looking for a high-quality, customizable pen for precise writing tasks, I highly recommend it!

Better than the 5-unit body!
This 4-unit multi-pen body was purchased as a replacement for a defective 5-unit body. This model is slimmer, but importantly is stronger in design. The 5-unit model had a thin and brittle transparent plastic mid-section that shattered. This 4-unit model is made of the normal opaque and heavy duty plastic that I expect will prove more durable. I no longer need the fifth unit as I’m retired and grade no more papers. As a musician, having both a pencil and eraser unit in the pen is critical, the ink pen is for signatures. As an older person, I wish the pencil unit took 0.9 mm leads for visibility and legibility, but softer 0.5 mm leads are my workaround. The sleek all-black 4-unit body is better looking than the 5-unit mixed-plastics model too! I could move to a 3-unit body if that allowed a 0.9 mm pencil unit to be produced! My only complaint about both pen bodies is that the selected unit sometimes retracts unexpectedly while writing. That may be more an issue with the refill design rather than the body.

Comfortable with a strong line
I needed fine-point pens for my job, and the ones provided had slim barrels, which I find uncomfortable. These are so handy, and I don't have to keep multiple pens scattered on my desk to change colors if necessary. They are very sturdy. The ink flow is steady and strong.

My Go-To for Residency – Almost Perfect
! As a resident, having a reliable multi-pen is an absolute must, and the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto 500 has been my unwavering favorite for years. Despite a few minor quirks, it's consistently the pen I reach for when I need to quickly switch between colors for notes, charts, or just jotting down reminders. What makes this pen a standout for me, and many others, is the incredible customization. The ability to load up to four different Hi-Tec-C refills (gel inks, mechanical pencil, or even an eraser unit) means I can tailor it exactly to my needs. The needle-tip gel ink refills offer that precise, smooth writing experience that Hi-Tec-C is famous for – perfect for legible, compact notes during rounds. The rubber grip is comfortable for those long writing sessions, and the easy-open flip-top cap makes swapping out refills a breeze. Pros: * Ultimate Customization: Choose your own colors, lead, and even an eraser for a truly personalized pen. * Smooth & Precise: Hi-Tec-C gel ink delivers consistently sharp lines, ideal for detailed work. * Comfortable Grip: Great for extended writing and note-taking. * Convenient Multi-Tool: Consolidates multiple writing instruments into one sleek body. Cons: * Durability Can Be an Issue: I've had one or two bodies break over the years, which is a bit frustrating given how much I rely on it. Some users also note its construction could be sturdier. * Prone to Misplacement: This isn't a fault of the pen itself, but it's so indispensable that losing one means immediate replacement! * Refill Consumption: While the ink is fantastic, I do find myself replacing cartridges fairly often, and some report faster ink depletion than expected. Overall, even with the need for occasional replacements (due to loss or breakage), the sheer convenience, customizability, and excellent writing performance of the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto 500 keep me coming back. It’s an essential tool for anyone who needs to quickly switch between different colors and functions, especially for demanding environments like residency. It truly elevates the multi-pen experience.

Good, sturdy-working pen
I have been using the Pilot Coleto pens for a few years, and this barrel seems to be the sturdiest one I've come across so far. I have had no luck with the 5-slot barrels that I've purchased here on Amazon, typically sold as a 3-pack, or in conjunction with the refills (usually a refill set of 15 colors); they seem to be made of thin plastic that feels like it will break where the top portion is connected to the lower portion (and it has). Not this 4-slot barrel, though. This one is constructed way better than some of my 3-slot barrels; it feels slimmer, but sturdier. An added bonus that I really appreciate is the rubbery section where the fingers actually hold the pen: it just feels better while writing, rather than just holding plastic (just a quirk of mine, as I am left-handed and a bit particular with what works for my odd ways of holding pens). Highly recommended.

Multi-pen body; easily fillable and interchangeable pen
This is a great pen. Unlike the childhood 4 barrel white and blue plastic pen, this is a little slimmer, and allows you to select the colors that you want to use. I purchased the Hi-Tec C Coleto Gel Ink Pen Cartridge 0.5 mm 15-set for ~$20. This gives me 15 different colors to choose from and I can switch them out whenever I want. As I'm an avid believer of taking notes and having this pen lets me have multiple colors without having to carry multiple pens. Every color that I've tried out so far is great. I love the slim feel of the body, as well as the smooth writing. I've tested with both Moleskin and Leuchtturm1917 and they work quite well.

Great multi pen
I have quite a few customizable multi pens. This is another winner. If you take care on lining up the refills, you can get them all to pop up easily. There is a little notch on the topper that goes in first. Make sure it is lined up, it’s part be feeling, and it will pop open and closed easily. Do this for each one. The topper being part of the refill is the main advantage of a Coleto. The cap, if opened carefully, will be fine. However, it could be seen as the not so advantageous. Too much force might eventually break it. So far, all my Coleto pens are fine.

Beautiful Pen *body only* to go with my Pilot Hi-Tech C Coleto refill
My husband took a recent trip to Japan and brought back some pens back. I soon realized that they were in fact just the pen bodies without the ink, so I went on Amazon to look up for refills. I was so in love with this style of pen that I started looking for more bodies to put my extra Pilot Hi-Tech C Coleto refills in. I LOVE the color of this pen. Very pretty pink, comfortable to hold and have had no issues so far. My only complain is the price. It is my opinion that is a little bit overpriced but other than that, Im happy with this pen body, the color, confort. DOES NOT COME WITH THE INK
