A great product, quality made.
The cameras worked very well. I was able to see the cameras when I was on a 2 week vacation over a thousand miles from home. It gave me peace of mind to be able to check the house while gone. The playback of recorded videos also worked well on vacation via Android phone. I plan to add more Amcrest cameras to the system to fill out the 8 inputs so I can see virtually all the way around my house. I am very pleased with build quality of the cameras. I replaced an older DVR/security camera system that had cameras with a plastic housing, I was pleased to see the metal on the new cameras and the adjustment system that is stable and not easy to move after they are tightened up. The quality of the color and cleanness of the video are excellent. The manual seems a bit dry and incomplete, but they have good videos on their website, and I was also able to find other people on youtube with videos that were helpful with setup and operation of the system.

okay system for the money, vendor support not the greatest
Like most reviews of these types of systems, the issue boils down to the company. These cameras were easy to set up and the software was pretty easy to install, however the most glaring issue that I have is with the mac software. It is not as robust nor is it as user friendly as the windows version. While you can go back and review footage, it is not possible to zoom down on the timeline making it very difficult to pinpoint the exact time that you are trying to see. There is also no way to make the footage run faster in order to speed through viewing. Now about the company, I had issues with the setup of the email notifications. ios10 did not want to allow notifications because it said that the software security was inadequate. I was told to reduce the security on my mail program to allow the notifications to go through; not good. Next, I had a problem with one of the channels not recording. On some occasions, the company responded quickly, on others it took days. After about a week of back and forth "try this", they decided that my dvr needed replacement. I was asked for contact information, address, phone number, proof of purchase, etc. I submitted that and a week later had not heard back. When I contacted the company asking when to expect my dvr, I was told they are out of stock and I would be put on a list to receive one when they received the units. I was told 2 to 3 weeks before stock would be replenished and its now been 2 weeks and still nothing. I asked if they would consider replacing the unit with an upgrade and was told no. As for the cameras, they work well but the detail is not at a level that would allow you to identify someone captured on the video unless they walked right up to the camera and looked directly at it. If I had to do it again, I would spend the extra bucks for a high def 1080 ip system.

Read before purchasing the 721 "ECO-HDCVI" models!
NOTE: THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION IS NOT ACCURATE FOR THE 720P ECO-HDCVI (Models starting with 721). This review is for the ECO-HDCVI 8 channel 4 bullet camera kit (721 8CH4B). This is a good system, but you should be aware that the ECO-HDCVI has some differences from the standard models that are not reflected in the product description. The cameras that come with the system are of a lower quality than that in the standard HDCVI kit. These cameras use 1/4 inch sensors instead of 1/3 inch sensors which results in a lower image quality as well as reducing the horizontal field of view, which is 59 degrees, not 75 degrees as stated in the description. Foscam support indicated that the AMC720BC28-B standalone cameras are 1/3 inch sensor and compatible with the ECO-HDCVI models. These would be the cameras that have the 75 degree field of view, so that is an option if you want to upgrade your cameras or for additional cameras. The product description also indicates 30fps 720P recording on all channels, but this is not what the specs on the box indicate (1 stream at up to 30fps with 7 others at up to 15fps). I've attached the DVR and Camera specs from the box, as well as an image from one of the kit cameras. Pros: * Compact and less expensive than the standard model * Decent quality cameras * 2 60ft and 2 100ft cables give flexibility for where to set up the cameras * Easy to access the stream from the Amcrest App * Other users have indicated that Amcrest phone support is great, but I have not had a need to call (which is a good thing!) Cons: * User interface for the DVR and App isn't intuitive, but usable. Documentation is about the same. * Cameras are of lower quality than the standard model and even the Amcrest website has conflicting information as to the differences between the ECO-HDCVI kits and the standard kits. * Recording is not 720p 30fps on all channels per specs on the box. * The fans that Amcrest uses within their DVRs are poor quality and noisy. You can find videos on YouTube to give you an idea. Other users have replaced these fans with success, commonly using a Noctua 5V fan (NF-A4X10-FLX 5V). Tips: * The camera power connectors tend to be loose fitting with the cables, so expect to use a little electrical tape. * The DVR needs a network cable for internet access, so be sure wherever you are setting up the DVR you can get a cable to that location. Overall it does exactly what you'd want it to do, but there are a few differences between this and the standard kit to just keep in mind. For me, the 721 8CH4B ECO-HDCVI kit was worth it, and the slightly lower quality isn't enough to stop me from recommending it.

I want one!
I have years of experience installing cameras and dvrs. This was the easiest one I have ever installed. Got this for a friend who needed one he assisted me with the provided cables running them in the attic. After cameras were set within minutes both my friend and his wife were looking at the video feed on their iPhones. Usually I have to mess with ports in the router and often have to get them provider to open the ports. Like the dvr system I have! I recommend this system to anyone who needs or wants one. The images from the cameras is very good as well. Super low price for a very good system. Simple install. Do it yourself and save your money.
