PLASTIC MODEL FIGURES Gangsters 56 FIGURES IN 14 POSES 1/72 RED BOX 72036

Compared to the "Police and Civilians" collection I recently reviewed, this set has a much wider variety of gangsters. (Though unlike the other set it has no police.) In that set the "civilian" gangsters were nearly all armed with long guns. In this set, some have long guns, some have pistols, some have baseball bats (like the one used by Capone to smash Scalise, Giunta and Anselmi) and a couple are standing with fists ready like boxers, which given the mob's ties to pro boxing is appropriate. There are even a couple images of a fat man with no visible weapon at all, though he has a cigar in one hand and his other hand is significantly near his jacket pocket. The other set had a few women, all in long dresses and armed with long guns (giving rather a "Ma Barker" effect, if you believe the FBI's version of her). In this set, however, there are women in shorter dresses (though not flapper-short) with pistols, who seem closer to most of the women in the hardboiled fiction of the day. Since all these figures are cast in a light brown plastic, they contrast with the policemen and "civilians" in the other set, which when using them unpainted (as I do) makes it easy to distinguish cops from robbers, or potentially rival gangsters.

The product is good quality plastic but the details are not that well defined in the plastic. If you are looking for detail like coats guns knifes etc this is not it but for some quick gangsters for game they will do nicely.

I've been looking for some miniatures like this, and I like them! Good value and will look at this vendor's other miniatures packs.

Love the miniatures. Will be great in my pulp Alley games. Will definitely be buying more red box Miniatures.
