Leading a phenomenal cast including Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan and Tim Robbins, Tom Cruise soars as Maverick, the young, in-your-face U.S. fighter pilot with a need for speed, a lot to prove, and even more to learn. Forever ranking with the best action films of all time, Top Gun remains a high-octane adrenaline rush. Review: Best movie of the 80's - Arrived on schedule, well packed but changed the blu ray case for a quality one as American cases are a lot thinner than British ones. No problems with disc playing. I finally upgraded from a region 1 dvd and the bluray was outstanding with both picture quality and sound. Looking forward to getting Maverick Review: FLYING HIGH - Considered by many an 80's clasic, certainly a favourite we see skilful fighter-pilot Tom Cruise as LT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, recommended to further his career along with co-pilot 'Goose' (Anthony Edwards) as potential 'Top-Gun' at the Naval Fighter Weapons School at Naval Air Station Miramar. It doesn't take long for there to be love-interest for Maverick in the shape of Kelly McGillis as Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood who he met at a club, however, Charlie turns out to be one of the instructors at the school....complications ahead ? At the school Maverick has a rival for the accolade of being the number one, Val Kilmer as LT Tom "Iceman" Kazansky. Things will eventually become more real for the pilotsT when a number of them including Maverick and Iceman become involved in a serious incidenmoviet that will threaten life itself. A superb watch with plenty of action along the way not to mention one or two iconic songs such as 'Take my Breath Away - Berlin (a hit because of the film no doubt<) The 4k upgrade for this 80's certainly sharper picture quality than on the Blu-ray format

One of the dull films from the 1980s
This film follows a main character in it played by Tom Cruise as he trains as a naval fighter pilot. Along the way we see him outside the American Navy base where he works and the film follows several other small characters in the respective roles. This is not a all out action picture from the 1980s,it's more like a character driven film with a few Ariel scenes in it where you see the Tom Cruise character fighting Russian planes. I never liked this film much when it was much much newer back in the 1990s on VHS. It does have a few training scenes in it where you see the Tom Cruise character learning how to fly a plane. Tom Cruise made quite a few hit and miss films in the 1980s and 1990s.
