Cool cup. Liking it a lot

I bought this UNLINED cup for the benefits of the anti-microbial properties of copper...same reason people take silver colloid for health benefits. Copper is purported to be used in scalp shampoos as it reduces flaking and itching caused by microbes, especially fungi. This cup is beautiful and is for daily use. So what If it tarnishes. If it were lined I would not buy it. Attached is an excerpt from Wikipedia: "Copper and its alloys (brasses, bronzes, cupronickel, copper-nickel-zinc, and others) are natural antimicrobial materials. Ancient civilizations exploited the antimicrobial properties of copper long before the concept of microbes became understood in the nineteenth century.[1][2][3][unreliable medical source?] In addition to several copper medicinal preparations, it was also observed centuries ago that water contained in copper vessels or transported in copper conveyance systems was of better quality (i.e., no or little visible slime or biofouling formation) than water contained or transported in other materials."

Mug is beginning to tarnish quite nicely. Water taste clean and taste great. One thing that I was not expecting. My cat will drink from my mug before he will go to his stainless steel water dish. So, I purchased what was stated as being solid copper bowl of his own. Turns out that new bowl is coated in lacqure inside and out for some reason and he will not go near it. So I cleaned his new bowl very well and gave it a taste test of my own. The water from the bowl had no clean or fresh taste at all. Just tap water. What you are getting in this product is a pure copper mug that will begin to tarnish in about one week. And believe me, water really does taste better from uncoated copper. I think you are going to make this your favorite mug. One last thing. You will need to use gloves if serving anything hot.

I've used this mug for 10 days. I've left it out to air dry on my dish rack. I've left it for hours with water inside. Today I dropped a drop of pure lemon juice for over an hour. It did not change color. This leads me to believe it's lined inside. I thought it was odd that the inside looked just as polished as the outside. But I gave it the benefit of doubt. The outer bottom is the only part that looks less polished. So I tested it out for 10 days. Not even a bit of tarnish. I also got a bowl from a different company when I purchased this mug. That bowl started changing color within an hour of being filled with water. I still gave it 4 stars because it is a well made mug and it's beautiful. But I dont believe it to be unlined. People look for uncoated interior for a specific purpose. I chose this mug because it mentioned it was unlined but I doubt it is. So if you're looking for a mug that's uncoated on the inside beware.

These are much sturdier than I was expecting. I ordered a couple of copper mugs from another seller and there is no comparison. I am very pleased with the quality!

was concerned the handle would be wonky but it’s solid just as stated. Use it to give my volcanic colloidal water an added copper punch. The cup looks great in my large masculine hands.
