Testing this out tonight after I got it. Obviously it's working since my PNY portable SSD drive shows up in explorer. I started to transfer 80GB of videos and it started at 130MBps which is good for USB3. Every 3-4 minutes, though, it throw an error and stops transferring files. If I wait a few minutes and click Try Again it starts transferring files and then it happens again. I plugged in a Samsung SSD and tried the same transfer and they same error keeps popping up. Will have to return this product as defective. Update: Received a replacement of this item and during a 25 minute 80GB transfer I did not have any I/O errors. speeds were averaging around 130MBp/s so I may have just received a bad unit. Updated 1 star to 5 star review.

Perfect for my older pc build

This allowed me to finally get two front mounted USB 3.0 ports on my older computer. My one mistake was not recognizing how long there are, and I was about 1cm too short to reach the front of the case. I ended up ordering the angled adapter to make up for the shortcoming. Data transfers to thumb drives are excellent now. In case anyone is wondering, the design with the two USB 3.0 ports uses M3 .5 pitch screws to hold them on to the rear port cover. I ended up purchasing flat head replacement screws that I countersunk into the computer case. It makes for a much cleaner installation.

my motherboard didnt have enough ports for the front I/O, this works great. if you are picky i would suggest labeling which ports on your case are the lower mb/s

Works great, 20p side is a bit loose. Edit: woops, just realized I ordered two different products, so this'll be a combined review. Above is for the usb2 to usb3 adapter. The usb3 right angle extension worked great, was just low enough to fit under the cpu cooler and psu cables in my Fractal Mood case. It did add significant length, but there's enough room to tuck it away in that case, thankfully. Like the brief adapter review above, the 20p connector on the mb side is a bit loose, though in this case it might be attributed to the old mb which has has the usb cable installed and removed multiple times from that header.

This is actually of good quality doesnt feel cheap and connected to my friend's motherboard and to the connector of the case that had 3.0 usb type A. I highly recommend this if you are working with a older motherboard that doesnt have usb 3.0 headers. I do feel the cord is a bit to long. Though not going to give it one star less. Im sure it will work wonders for someone out there. :)

The adapter is well made. The connectors fit snuggly. I especially like the molded connector on the USB 3.0 end of the adapter. I tried a cheaper adapter that just used heat-shrink tubing to cover the connectors. The tubing kept sliding off. The adapter only provides USB 2.0 speeds to the front panel connectors on my computer but at least they are functional even though slower.

Building in the LianLi A3-mATX case is a challenge; there's so little space. Still, it looks dead sexy with the wood front of panel. But I digress. This adapter actually gave my USB connection some much-needed breathing room. Recommended. 👍

Unlike some of the other options on Amazon, this device enables both front panel USB ports. Definitely what you need if you are installing an older motherboard into a current generation pc case.
