Product description is thorough and reassuringly reliable
First class product, the description is thorough and reassuringly reliable. It is built well and it works! I was looking for a connector for my old Mac LED screen that my wife used with her old MacBook Air, the screen is a great screen and I didn't want to 'pension it off'. This adapter means I can now use this screen with my USBC only MacBook Pro. It works perfectly!

Works perfectly on Macbook Pro 2019
Very pleased with this adaptor. After reading the descriptions / specifications of multiple items I was quite confused. My use case is that I want to connect a Macbook Pro 2019 model to a monitor at work which already has a mDP to DP cable in it and available to use for laptop users. The male mDP part is exposed for me to connect to and the other end of the cable is full size DP plugged into the monitor. I'm happy to report that this works first time and with no issues. As with another reviewer, I note that the mDP plug doesn't go fully into the adaptor but this seems to be just cosmetic. It is full and securely connected.

Excellent and relaible product despite some of the negative reviews
Previously I had linked my to late 2013 MacBook Pro to two Dell 4K U2718Q monitors via cables which are Thunderbolt 2 to mini DisplayPort . This worked well (except the content of left and right monitors frequently swapped unless I turned one monitor off before sleeping & waking or before booting). I then replaced the Intel MBP by an M4 MBP which necessitated USB-C at the laptop end. I could have bought new USB-C to standard DisplayPort cables but using the sicotool adapter with one of the existing cables seemed a cheaper and less disruptive way around the problem and one where I could always return the adapter if it didn't work. For the 2nd monitor, I used an HDMI cable and that works fine too in combination with the sicotool adapter on the 1st monitor. However, the HDMI cable is quite thick and less flexible than my existing mini DP cables. So, following my good experience withe the sicotool adapter, I bought a 2nd one and now use both. I get audio output to my mini HiFi system as I did before. I appreciate that there are other similarly priced adapters available. Incidentally, both cabling options have eliminated the screen content swapping problem (see above) probably due to the change from High Sierra to Sequoia. Eventually I shall tidy up my desk up by getting a powered dock with just one cable to the laptop. But so far, I haven't found one without negative reviews or an exorbitantly high price or ports I don't need - or all three!

Will connect M1 Macbook Pro 2021 (USB C) to Cinema Display 30"
This was used to connect a 30" Cinema Display to a 2021 MacBookPro using the apple dual link connector - worked fine until it just stopped yesterday - Cinema Display Dual Link connections are fine as tested with older MBP. Cable seems sturdy enough, but normal use should give a return of more that 12 months - company do offer a 360 day warranty and have reached out and offered a refund or a replacement.

Apple Led 27” display still useable with macbook pro 15” M1
Love this little cable. I can now use my Apple 27” Cinema display with all resolutions. Works a treat. Using the usbc3 port to mini display socket. Was thinking of getting a new display until I saw this. 👍👍

Seemed fine, didn't last long...
I purchased the Sicotool USB Type C to Mini DP adaptor to connect an Apple LED Cinema Display to my iMac. It seemed fine for a month or two, then the image started juddering and momentarily blanking out. This got worse and worse over time. I can reboot the display and have it work again for a short while, but the fault returns. If I don't do anything, after a while it just stops working all together and I get a blank screen. I contacted the supplier for advice but, as expected, received no response. Not recommended. I've ordered the Apple adaptor instead.

CHECK Doesn't work for MacBook Air 2022 to display port cable to Acer monitor
PLEASE NOTE. Doesn't work for MacBook Air to display port to HDMI cable. Cable works with my old MacBook air 2011 which has a mini display/thunderbolt port but not with this adaptor and my new MB air and USB-C output. Looks sturdy and well made. I can connect through a dock etc but I wanted a simple adapter to save hassle but as this doesn't do it I’m sending it back. AN UPDATE Apples own adapter doesn’t work either and they don’t know why. So I’ve upgraded stars to 5 as it doesn’t look like it is the adapters fault.

Worked Flawlessly
M1 MacBook Air at 4k60p to Dell UP2718Q Over the years I ended up with a bunch of expansive mini-DP active adapters, such as mDP->Dual link DVI. This adapter cable allowed all those adapters to continue to work with USB-C hosts which saved me a lot of money. One thing to note is that the source device need to support USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Most computers do but mobile devices may not. That also means from the mDP end of this adapter you will *ONLY* get DisplayPort signal, you cannot then use cheap mDP-HDMI passive adapters to connect an HDMI TV/Monitor (there are plenty of USB-C-to-HDMI cable/adapters for that use case). This is partly a limitation with USB-C specification and not a fault with this product.

Very nice small and tidy adapter that worked perfectly with my 27" Apple LED Cinema display and also with my even older 30" Apple Cinema Display with Dual-DVI. Liked it so much I bought another to connect all my screens with my Macbook Pro 14" and Macbook Pro 13".
