Gabriel Cosmetics Lip Primer, 0.07 oz

I’ve never used a lip primer before due to severe cosmetic allergies. Decided to try this after so many issues with breakouts with lipsticks leaving my lips darker than normal. This smoothes things out bro Goli g out the real color of the lipstick. Don’t need much - just a finger and it goes on smoothly!

I read the reviews here and other sites trying to figure out how to get this primer right; there aren't good instructions on the Gabriel site. I have never used lipstick regularly before and I wanted to learn how to get smudgeless deep color lips. It took me about 2 weeks of trial and error to get it right, and still not 100%. Use your finger to put a thin layer of primer on; a brush applies too much and not as evenly. Do not rub lips together, let it dry/set for about 3 minutes. Then apply a thin layer of lipstick and let it set. If you see primer on your lipstick, the primer was not set and may have been too heavy a layer, so wipe off and start over. After the first layer of lipstick is set, a few minutes, you can apply another thin layer of lipstick. The primer does help keep it set, but you still have to reapply after a meal.

This primer makes a big difference in how long your lipstick will stay looking good. It helps your lipstick define the border of your lips nicely and stay on longer. I did not think it would make a difference but it does. Love it.

I have never used lip primer so I was excited to try this. This came without any instructions so I ended up researching instructions. Ultimately this primer went on patchy and I didn't notice any difference in wear time. It does help you get the true color of your lipstick since it neutralizes your natural lip color. If you're getting this to get the true color of the lipstick, this might be great for you but if you're wanting this to make your lipstick last longer, don't bother. I noticed no difference and it left my lips feeling dry.

Soft and nice color

I like that Gabriel cosmetics are cruelty-free, and although I am not really a lipstick person (lip pencil/gloss) this lip primer seems to be a better first layer under my liner than lip balm. In the beginning, I didn't like this product... because I was putting wayyy too much on! I've never used a lip primer before, and I just dipped my finger in as if it was a pot of lip gloss and applied liberally, dragging it across my lips as best I could. My lips were so pale from all the product that even after applying my lip pencil, you could see the whiteness shine through. Not a good look. Plus my lips are a little dried out and overdoing this product only seemed to make things worse. I realized that a light touch goes a long way! So what I do is use my ring finger to dab a BIT on the middle of my bottom lip, then I gently pat it out to either side (not dragging it) and then pat some on my top lip, so my lips have a light layer of primer and are just kinda pale, not white. That's it, then apply color. It's a bit waxier than lip balm, and after using my lip pencil I could see the color more obviously than I can when applied over un-primed lips, plus the primer seems to fill in a lot the little dry ridges so the surface of my lips are more flat and it makes the color stand out. I think this "smoothness" of the primer becomes more obvious when gloss of some kind is applied, and it just feels like my lips are plumper when I rub them together (they're not) because the surface is smooth and they aren't as dry. Since I don't have any dark shades (currently using this with a peachy pink lip pencil), I can't say how this product performs with dark colors bleeding/feathering, unfortunately. But so far I like it. This isn't one of those products that I absolutely can't live without going forward, but it's a nice addition to my makeup routine.

I ordered this lip primer because it seems like lipstick on me only lasts a few minutes. The first time I tried it, I put way too much on. When I put the lipstick on, it lightened the shade of my lipstick and didn’t seem to help it stay on. The next time I put on a very thin layer and made sure it was dry. Then I put on my lipstick. I’m happy to say that two hours into my day I looked in the mirror, and there was still lipstick on my lips. The product has no discernible fragrance. The texture feels a bit chalky on. However, I think this is what makes it work. I’ve applied it with both a finger and an applicator. I feel the finger works best.

I’m very impressed with this lip primer! I have wrinkles around my mouth and my lipstick tends to feather. This lip primer stopped that from happening! I put it on and it’s fairly dry when it goes on but I do let it set for a few minutes before I put my lipstick on. It makes my lips look soft smooth! For anyone with more mature lips like mine you will probably really like how much smoother and younger your lips look. It makes my lipstick last longer as well. I think it’s a good price for the great quality. You only need a little bit each time you use it. This is the product that I didn’t know I needed!!

This is very pricy! But with skin isssues due to medication I’ve found this helps smooth the areas above and around my lips. Good coverage applied under concealer or foundation is a finished clean look. Lasts a long time if not wasted by applying too much that’s not needed. Second order and will order again. Clean lines!
