Greetings all,UPDATE: 06/22/2021 = after using the standard contact sensor for several weeks, the sensor would only register when opened but started to fail registering when closed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sensor and it would work on the initial try but failed to register closed every time after. I tried two identical sensors but both would end up failing. I contacted YoLink customer service for a solution but they had none at first. Finally, a suggestion was made to try one of the “outdoor contact sensors” which had recently been added to the product line. I purchased the new outdoor sensor and installed the device ensuring the transmitter portion was fasted to the outside of the mailbox housing, ran the wired contact sensor to the inside of the lid/door and set up my routine using Alexa. After more than a half dozen tests, this seems to have solved the issue and for now is working every time without fail. Only time will tell if this will continue to perform in the future but fingers crossed that it will. BTW, the customer service representative also informed me that YoLink will be releasing a mailbox sensor designed specifically for this purpose soon, but couldn’t give me an exact date of availability.I use a combination of Smartthings & Alexa for my smart home sensors and automations. I have tried ALL of the different Smartthings sensors and several Smartthings compatible sensors including a garage door tilt sensor, on my mailbox. Every single sensor either didn’t work at all or would work for a day or two and then go “offline” / “disconnected” or would only work intermittently. I have search, researched and tested more than a dozen different sensors and then decided to attempt to boost my outdoor wifi signal but none of the affordable options on Amazon worked and I refuse to pay over $300 for the high end options. I had all but given up on having a reliable mailbox sensor until this item showed up. I’m not very tech savy but this system was even easy for me to install and link with both Smartthings and Alexa. The contact sensor is mounted on the inside of the mailbox door with the magnet installed on the inside, side wall. When my mail box is opened, I have my automation trigger an LED strobe light in two different rooms of the house, a beeper alarm turns on and all of my echo dots (5) announce “mail call”. I then created an automation through Alexa called “reset mail call” that will turn everything off simply by saying “Alexa, reset mail call”. This entire setup works flawlessly and I haven’t had any misses or false triggers. I couldn’t be happier with this product and would definitely recommend. BTW, my mailbox is only 50ft from my house but several vehicles and walls are between my mailbox, my router and both hubs. No issues at all. The manufacturer claims even greater range but expect a maximum of 300ft unless direct line of sight with no obstructions. I hope this helps, good luck with your search.

I've bought several different types of sensors. I didn't fully test their distance claims but they did work for over 100 feet (indoor hub to outdoor sensors). they were all easy to set up and use minimal power. For the minimal cost I would suggest the speaker hub (announces via text to talk) as opposed to the normal hub. I am very happy with these purchases and gave them feedback for future products.
