An excellent bargain
I ordered this for a desktop to get something very inexpensive that was better than the chintzy monitor speakers, and this was the most affordable 2.1 setup I could find. I was concerned about other reviews that suggested there was a hum or buzz from the speakers when at middle volumes. I am pleasantly surprised to say that I have not experienced any such issues and the sound is clean and surprisingly loud for the size. I did power it into an independent USB power source which may have made the difference on the buzz. In any case, the bottom line is that this is a serviceable setup for desktop sound that is much better than more expensive 2.0 systems (bars, etc.) that I have used - the ability to have better stereo separation and the compact size of the sub make it much more flexible and the performance is very nice for the price. It won't blow you away, but for $25 there's not a better solution of which I'm aware.

No Thank You
I used these speakers all of a handful of times, they broke after a month, no volume from one speaker. You move the speaker and it starts crackling like it wants to work, but no dice. Fortunately I had the GOgroove Sonaverse BX which is still working like a champ. Good brand, but this particular speaker set is junk. I would not recommend.

... for a few months and they have proven much better then i was expecting for the price
i've had these things for a few months and they have proven much better then i was expecting for the price, i assumed everything would be much larger then they turned out to be but that doesn't seem to affect the sound quality any, for the price i paid it does everything i needit is abit unusual that i have to plug a USB into the computer in addition to the sound jack but it does save me the hassle of finding a slot on a powerstrip or extending it to a wall so while not being a HUGE plus it does make everything alot more convenient to move around as needed, i have given some thought to buying a second one as i have multiple PC's but picking up and moving this is so much more convenient then other, larger speakers which need to be plugged into an outlet that i can get by as is.if i had to have a complaint, due to the small size of the satellite speakers attached to the central box, it is VERY easy for pets to knock them around, i have two cats and i have considered taping the speakers to the top as they have knocked them around my desk multiple times, thankfully these have also proven to be quite durable and appear no worse for the wear even when falling on top of other furniture, when i had initially purchased this set i had been hoping the speakers were much larger and if there was an option to pay for such i would have done so.its a fairly minor complaint though, the fact that they havent died on me yet (whereas other electronics in this price range WOULD have by now) is a win for me on its own but combined with the convenience and sound quality i would definitely say this was worth the price i paid.

Best Bang for your Buck if On a Budget
Surprisingly good bass for an woofer the size of a DVD trilogy. It manages to rattle my entire office at half volume, which is really something considering the price.PROS:-shockingly good bass-excellent bang per buck ratio-speakers haven't blown out despite my best efforts-did not have to install a driver (not common, but when you do have to install them it can be a pain)CONS:-annoying buzzing when the volume on the speakers is turned up too high-the pictures are deceiving, these speakers are smaller than tea cups and the woofer is tiny-don't expect miracles, this is not a permanent sound system solutionI got these because my speakers broke and I needed a cheap set to get through the week. 4 months later they are still okay enough speakers. THEY DO NOT EMIT THE BEST SOUND ON THE MARKET, but if you are on a tight budget, these are the best speakers you will get for the price.

Two serious design flaws spoil an otherwise good product.
I bought these speakers because they are powered from the USB port, meaning fewer power bricks to have to deal with. The cabling is also tidier because the USB and audio wires run in parallel, further reducing clutter.Plus, the sound volume is quite good despite the small size and simplicity. But ... as MANY people have noted, the speakers make a buzzing sound that can be quite annoying. This is NOT your usual 60 Hz noise, but more like an irregular crackling. The source of this noise is the computer's +5V power line, and for whatever reason, it is most noticeable when the volume is set to INTERMEDIATE levels, i.e. neither all the way up nor all the way down. This generally reflects poor design, possibly due to power and signal lines running too close together, or inadequate bypass capacitors somewhere. Because the amount of noise on the +5V line varies greatly from computer to computer, the degree to which this is bothersome will likely vary from user to user. The degree to which the noise is bothersome also depends on what you are playing. With a typical TV show, with lots of action, dialogue, and/or music, you won't notice it. But if you are watching a movie that has quiet spots, it will be quite noticeable.A second issue is that there is no protective grille in front of the speaker cones. The subwoofer faces down, and is relatively protected, but the two satellite speakers are very exposed. I need to be careful not to let ball point pens or other sharp objects poke through the flexible speaker cone. These two flaws, especially the buzzing sound, are a shame, because otherwise it's a decent product - the lack of power brick is wonderful, and the speakers put out plenty of volume for their size.

Worth it
Lets be honest, it's $25 for this thing. It ain't gonna be audiophile quality, but for this price you can't beat it. Better then laptop speakers for sure. Thumbs up from me
