Rome Cast Iron Old Fashioned Waffle Irons, Pack of 2

I’m beyond pleased with the Rome Cast Iron Old Fashioned Waffle Irons, Pack of 2! After removing the protective wax coating and baking them a few times to get them properly cured and seasoned, these waffle irons have been phenomenal. They’re perfect for making chaffles and waffle-shaped omelets, my go-to low-carb alternatives to traditional waffles. With a bit of butter, fat, or oil, they become completely non-stick, and I haven’t had any issues with sticking at all. I gave the second waffle iron to my father, and he’s been making classic waffles with his, which he says turn out great every time! The size is just right, and the depth is perfect for both keto-style and traditional waffles, satisfying everyone in my family who’s tried both. Cleaning is a breeze, especially once seasoned properly, and the sturdy cast iron construction feels like it will last forever. The pack of two is an incredible value for the money, making it easy to share or use for multiple servings. The even heating delivers crispy, golden results every time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for versatile, high-quality waffle irons!

I bought this as a gift for my son and he loves them. We will have to clean the wax off them but seems to be good quality

One broke one had a hole straight through the cast

It takes a while to season any type of cast iron to the condition of being nonstick, patience is key! There are a lot of videos online that will teach you how to do it, I use Crisco on my cast iron pan and used it on these waffle makers and no issues! The waffles are basic thickness, NOT Belgian, which is exactly what I wanted - crisp thin waffles like my Grandparents used to make us kids back in the early 1980's. Except I know what cast iron is made of and the black nonstick coating on pans is toxic, something I really don't want to cook food on. My grown sons (22 and 29 years old) were eating the waffles with their hands as soon as I took them out and onto plates, they said the waffles were the best ever and the crispness was amazing! I have arthritis in my hands and sternum so I was really concerned about how heavy these would be and how hard it would be to use but I loved making the waffles and will use these forever and hopefully have grandkids of my own to make waffles for then pass these pans down in the family. It's a great investment for future generations!

Pro: Great quality, very excited about these. Will last forever. Con: unseasoned & need multiple seasonings to get them ready to use w ease. Do not use until you’ve seasoned it several times or you’ll be cleaning stuck waffles. (Photo was with one seasoning)

I love these waffle irons! I’ve used them multiple times now and they’re very easy to use and very easy to clean. I rub a stick of butter on them each time before I pour the batter in & I have no problems with the waffles sticking.

Showed up well packed, but you will need to remove the wax from the cast iron. I heated it up and wiped with a cloth, then washed with soap and water. Dried well, then seasoned with bacon grease. Heated and seasoned again. Cooked waffles beautifully!!

After searching for a USA made waffle iron, I decided to get this one because it said that the company, Rome Industries, has been making "Quality outdoor cookware since 1864, Peoria, IL. 61615." I received the box today, and I was very excited to open it up and start cleaning and seasoning my new toys. Then I saw MADE IN CHINA on the bottom of the label attached to each iron. I am very disappointed and I feel lied to by false advertising. I have yet to do anything with these because I'm still considering returning them. They say there's a 10 year warranty, but if they're going to be misleading about the origin, what else are they not being upfront about?

Worked fantastic! Need to put the effort into the seasoning and as some on YouTube say it needs for than 2. I seasoned 5 times using my Weber q and looks like it’s glazed. Light spray of canola oil on preheated irons and careful not to overcook.
