Stanley Proto J5100 3/8" Drive SAE Torque Adapter Set, 12 Point, 9PC

The Stanley Proto #J5100 torque adapter wrench set is well made and functions as intended. Proto typically provides high quality American made tools and this is no exception. The wrench openings have the lobular cut so they turn against the sides of fasteners and won't round them off. The only thing I would say is that the finish on the wrenches have minor chrome plating blemishes on the back sides, so I would rate the finish as 90% but not 98-100% that I typically receive from S-K and Snap On. However, this set is more complete than the Snap On set because they sell a five piece set from 5/16" to 9/16" for a higher price than this 9 piece set that goes from 3/8" to 7/8" with no skipping of sizes. The storage bar is very handy and is made as a 3/8" drive bar with spring balls at each end. Wrenches won't fall off but they are relatively easy to remove when you do so intentionally. I will emphasize that the chrome plating blemishes are very minor and appear on the rear of the wrenches so all markings are still legible on the front and the function is not affected at all. This is acceptable for a wrench but it would not be acceptable if I found it on an accessory that I bought for my cruiser motorcycle. I would highly recommend these torque adapter wrenches to anyone who wants a high quality American made set that includes all sizes from 3/8" to 7/8". Most vendors skip some sizes in this range, as if they know that you won't ever need those sizes. Or else they expect you to pay extra to buy the other sizes and then the storage bar might not be long enough to hold the extra sizes that you bought. You won't have those problems with this Proto set. Buy with confidence. I'm very happy with my purchase.

The ever speeding spiral to the bottom of the quality drain hasn't affected PROTO. Fit and finish exceeds todays “top brand” tools. I own hardware store brand tools from 20 years ago that make the truck stuff Of today look poorly finished. Tools picked up to get a job done at the time. Sad, my home set of tools from my time as a millwright, are nicer than most today. 20+ years in the trades, and value for the money, PROTO has few rivals. These work great doing head, and rocker work on HD touring models. Wish I didn’t need to order on line, todays stock nothing to reduce inventory system only reduces cost short term. Soon the government will need the tax money saved by not holding inventories, and they will add a new tax. Then, cost goes up to an already unhappy customer. Funny how 100 years ago every thing came from catalog, stores spread for convenience, now stores disappear, and we have E-catalogs. How inconvenient

Works for what I needed.

Excelente calidad pero si está demasiado caro

I had to torque some reduced head 9/16" diameter bolts. The heads were 12-point 5/8". Needed to be torqued to 120 foot-pounds. I tried to find a similar product in a 1/2" drive size due to the torque needed but could not find any at a reasonable price. These withstood the torque without evidence of distress. Impressive.

I waited excitedly for these. Growing up proto was snap on before snap on. SK also. So when I saw these for such a decent deal I ordered them right away. A serious deal compared to 600 dollars from Snap On. My initial assessment was wow. They seem like decent metal, polished very well. Then I reached into the box and actually cut myself on the chrome plating peeling off of the 5/8. I am a professional mechanic and have been buying tools since the early 80’s. Never have I seen the plating falling off of a brand new tool. If this is how far we have fallen as a manufacturing country, we’re in trouble.

Well made and a necessary item for torqueing nuts and bolts in tight spaces where a crows foot is not long enough. The metal bar holds all adapters securely and compactly. Also can these can be used as a stubby wrench.

Everything about this product is great aside from the rail they come on, it’s a little too big for the adapters so they don’t slide on well, side note it works great for 3/8ths gear wrench crows feet so no harm done
