READ THIS IF YOU ARE STARTING TO RESEARCH JUICERS
UPDATE 3.15.2017 I should have updated this post sooner. I was able to send the Juicer back to Omega directly and they took care of replacing it ASAP. Excellent customer service, great and fast response time. The replacement blender has worked flawlessly since we received it back in October, so about 5 1/2 months now. Omega can't be beat for customer service and responsiveness, this should give anyone the confidence to buy their products. Had I read through the warranty I would have seen the company backs up their products for over ten years. I doubt I will still be using my juicer that long - hoping that technology moves better solutions forward by then! UPDATE 8.8.2016 Two months after purchase I have purchased hundreds of items from Amazon over the past couple of years and never wirte reviews. I was pretty happy with the initial performance of the Omega VERT slow juicer and so busted out a quick raving 5 star review. Now only two months later the juicer is broken and in a box, never to be used again, the seller only had a 30 day warranty. If you plan on using a juicer with any frequency, plan on buying another juicer and not from this seller. I had high hopes for this juicer only to be very, very disappointed in its acutal lack of performance. Save yourself the time and money and look for a horizontal auger type juicer, they last longer. *************************** Omega VERT Slow Juicer VSJ843QS, Square Version, Silver . We have a small beverage business and fresh press our organic fruits and roots. Over the past two years we have used the Omega J8006 and tried the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus. Our goal is to have as much pure juice and the least amount of pulp or residual byproduct in the juice, so we are willing to take more time to achieve this result. While the Breville is a great machine and probably good for someone juicing for personal health purposes, it had too much pulp and a lot of it was too wet. The Omega J8006 has been a staunch work horse, but after a year the parts started wearing out. Omega's customer service is top notch however and has been very helpful in getting us replacement screens at no additional cost to us. The OJ8006 finally broke down a few days ago so we are sending the base unit back to Omega as they have a 7 or 10 year warranty. In the mean time I did a Yuge, huge, HUGE amount of research looking for a replacement and came up with the Omega VERT Slow Juicer VSJ843QS. I will spare you the details, only because I don't have the time to elaborate since I spent all of it researching and actually have to get back to work, but I wanted to get a quick 5 star rating posted on this product. DISCLAIMER, I am writing this after the first use and will update later if my experience changes. This Slow Juicer is the bomb, It squeezes 4 cups of Pineapple juice out of one Pineapple, whereas we typically only get 3 cups. Try getting those results for Pineapple in any other juicer. We just sliced the pieces and dropped them in the chute, didn't even have to press down on the plunger. And there was hardly any foam whatsoever, a stark contrast to both of the other machines we have used. Then we put ginger into the plunger which you have to use to process ginger. It did get stuck a few times, but the reverse button offered a quick solution and we were able to churn out some ginger juice that was as pure as any I have seen. The pulp was so dry you could have used it for kindling. I realize that writing a review after juicing two items, a pineapple and ginger, is not a thorough review. But after you have juiced for two years in a small business environment you know what to look for and anticipate. This juicer is very quiet and the wide auger with low RMP does a great job of giving us the most juice and therefore bang for our buck. So make sure to include this juicer in your research and save yourself a whole lot of time. If you find something better, please let me know!

Buy it. Use it. Love it. Don't forget to Brag about it.
This thing is da' bomb! I previously had a centrifugal style juicer and just the slow process without whipping all the air into the juice made for a much richer tasting juice than my previous machine. This machine is so quiet too compared to the other one that I had. Pros: Cleaning it, setup, dis-assembly, juice quality, quiet, quality of construction. Cons: not really anything. The feeder tube is not a larger mouth style so you might spend another 30 seconds to 1 minute prepping to juice since you need to make sure that the pieces are smaller but what does eight cuts on an apple mean compared to four on my previous machine. I don't think I will cry about losing a minute each time I juice. The end product that comes out of the machine is just so rich and tasty it makes me want to scream. Very nice yield too. Make sure to watch several youtube videos on how to use the slower juicer machines. Things like some leafy greens or celery do need to be cut fairly small due to the cellulose and fiber strands but, again, that is not really adding to prep time unless you like the large mouthed units that you can dump and run the produce. The first juice I did was: beet root (1/2 lb), carrot (1lb), 2 red delicious apples, 1 orange, 2 ounces spinach threw all that into a blender with a banana and flax (a rip off of Jamba Juice's Orange Reviver). The total yield on this, after the banana and blended, was just over 1 quart for those that are curious. I had read that sometimes this style juicer can stop due to too much of a load so I did leave some of the carrots large on purpose to see what the size was that would stop the machine. Now I know that I needed a whopping one more cut on one fat piece of carrot and no more issues. If you currently juice and are curious about slow juicers, go for it. Well worth the money, don't forget 15 YEARS coverage on this bad boy. Or, if you have never juiced but are serious about starting, dive it. Don't waste time with the $129 spinners....like the one I threw away already. High speed spinning parts - anything gets off balance and you have a juicer that will vibrate and slide all over the counter top and that is LOUD when it happens. I'd have to take the old one apart, put it back together carefully and half the time it still felt like I was using a machine that was going to explode.

Fruits, Veggies, Nuts, Oats - it does it ALL!
**Update** The juicer is still as awesome as when we first began juicing with it. No problems out of it at all. I’ve recently started making nut milks and oat milk in my juicer and it has been amazing. Cow’s Milk bothers my stomach so I need alternatives. The nut and oat milks from the store can be terribly expensive, so I watched a few videos on YouTube on how to make nut milk and oat milk with my juicer and it worked like a charm. The amount of milk I can make for the price I spend on the oats or nuts that I use is great. This juicer has paid for itself many times over and we’ve only had it for just under a year. Still very satisfied. ******************** This juicer is amazing! Wow! The pics I’ve submitted from this review is when I first started using it. But since those pics, I’ve juiced a ton of fruits and veggies. The fruit and veggie in the pic is kale, apples and ginger. Let me start by saying I’m no expert in juicing. I’m new to this juicing life but I feel really good about my purchase. I did extensive research and decided I wanted a masticating juicer as opposed to a centrifugal one. Once I figured that out I did more research and decided on the Omega VSJ843QS. Fruits/Veggies - I’ve read some reviews about it having trouble juicing soft fruits but I’ve juiced blueberries, strawberries, grapes, watermelon, kiwi, pineapple, oranges and pears. No problem. The only soft fruit I had trouble juicing was a soft mango (peeled of course). It does exceptionally well with hard or root veggies like beets and carrots. It does great with apples (peeled or skin on). It does great with cucumbers, ginger, you name it. I haven’t done wheatgrass yet but it does great with kale. Pulp - For the most part the pulp comes out dry. Some softer fruits the pulp is still somewhat wet. I’ll take wet pulp and run it through again and that typically pulls a little more juice out. I’ve noticed that pineapples work well if you’re not juicing the whole thing. It will juice an entire pineapple but it clogs. I find myself having to uses the little brush that comes with it to dig the jammed pulp out of the exit chamber. It’s tedious but it will juice the whole pineapple. Yield - I get pretty good yields out of my produce. I can tell based on how dry the pulp is when it comes out. That being said, it still takes a decent amount of fruit and veggies to get more than 15 oz of juice. Some fruits produce more foam than others but this juicer is not “foam free”. I don’t particularly mind the foam but I know it can be an issue for some people. It can easily be removed off the top of the juice with a cake spatula or a spoon. Cleanup- the clean up is fairly simple. But it has a 8 individual pieces that you’ll be cleaning after every juicing session. The “auto-clean” feature isn’t really “auto-clean”. You simply pour water into the juicer while it’s on so the water can flush the auger and screen free of any left over pulp. Once you disassemble the juicer (a really simple process) it will still need to be rinsed and washed thoroughly. But the auto-clean feature makes it easier to clean it manually. Assembly - Easy. All of the parts can look intimidating but they all fit together easily. It comes with simple instructions that you’ll have no trouble following and putting it together is a breeze. All in all, this juicer was an investment for us. I’ve used it daily since purchasing it and the fact that it has a 15 year warranty is mind blowing to me. It lets me know that we’ll have it for a long time. I’m very satisfied with this appliance.

Extremely difficult to remove lid after juicing- now it has broken off the threading
From day one this juicer has been very difficult to remove the lid (hopper) after juicing, so much so, that I have "oiled" the threading with olive oil before each use to make it easier to take off. I have contacted Omega about the problem but never got an answer. Today the lid literally snapped off the threaded part making the entire assembly useless. What I believe happens is hopper threading jumps off the bowl threading track so it cannot be removed. It is essentially, jammed out of the threads. I have endured this issue because, as a juicer it has done a good job and is quiet. But now it is worthless. I do not recommend this juicer unless they redesign this issue. Sadly, I am only one month out of my 2 year warranty. I have tried to remove the hopper lid, even chipping away at the sides in hopes of pulling it off the basket. It is SO jammed in the threading it won't budge. I was hoping to save the internal parts and just buy a new hopper and bowl which is significantly less than replacing the internal parts (over $200) to try a salvage the juicer but not if I can't get the bottom of the hopper off of the bowl. What a piece of CRAP!!!!

The BEST vertical auger juicer on the market...but with caveats.
This is probably the most well thought out vertical auger juicer on the market at this time. However, as with any product, there are caveats. I initially bought an Optimum 700 juicer for the wide mouth feature but returned it because it made extremely pulpy juice and was very difficult and time consuming to clean. Also the wide mouth is more of a gimmick than an advantage, It sure made feeding in whole apples a snap, but produce such as celery and leafy greens still have to be cut into small 1/2" pieces to avoid clogging the pulp ejection port. I then bought this juicer, the OMEGA VSJ843. It is a handsome, and very thoughtfully designed machine. It fits comfortably under my cabinets and in comparison to the Optimum 700, is a breeze to clean. Omega (or rather Hurom, the OEM) has eliminated as many of the the nooks and crannies and cogs and gear teeth that are found on other juicers and this makes for extremely easy and quick cleaning. Not only that, but there is literally nowhere in any of the parts that come in contact with the food, that bits of produce can lodge in or under, and serve as potential breeding spots for bacteria or other nasties. It does a really good job with leafy greens and hard veggies. It also does fairly well with soft fruits as long as one juices them with hard vegetables such as carrots at the same time. I believe it has better yields than most other vertical auger juicers as well. However, the one weakness of this juicer is that it does not do so well with soft fruits by themselves. The fibrous pulp that is ejected is quite wet especially when soft fruits are juiced, which means that there is still juice being left in the pulp. Running the pulp through the juicer doesn't extract any more juice either. Thus, in my opinion if the primary use of this machine is going to be solely juicing soft fruits such as apples, citrus, berries etc., this will probably not be your best bet. With a mix of fruits and leafy greens and hard veggies such as carrots, however, this will be about the best, easiest to use, and easiest to clean vertical auger slow juicer out there at least for the moment. The other caveat, though I do not consider it to be a deal breaker by any means, is that this juicer works best with produce that has been cut into small pieces. One of the selling points of wide mouth juicers is that you supposedly do not have to cut up produce as much, and thus save time when juicing. At least with the Optimum 700, this is definitely not true, and any time saved in not having to cut up the produce like apples and oranges, is lost (and then some), in the length of time it takes to clean the machine. I've gotten to the point where cutting up enough produce to make 64 ounces of juice takes me less than 2-3 minutes. The VSJ843 will thank you for cutting up the produce by giving you juice that has very, very little pulpiness, and with very little foam as well. I'd urge everyone to check out the juicer review videos on youtube by John Kohler. He is the reason I bought this juicer.

So Quiet!
I wanted a juicer that was quiet and cold press. This works great. Easy to use and clean and processes produce awesome. It does struggle with celery like others have said, I just chop it up small and separate it out with other produce. Very Happy with it.

Didn't work as well after first few uses
I really liked this machine the first 3-5 times I used it, it worked great. By the time I got to the seventh use, I was feeling like I was done with it. The pulp started to build up and twisted around the grinder, so not grinding as much juice as it should have been and like the first few times. I'm not a person to keep things like this unwashed, I cleaned it properly and within minutes after each use and it was a bit of a job to clean but not the worst when I compare to others that I have had. The size and weight was as you would expect of a machine like this to be and not an issue for me. The juice that was produced was a good consistency and without chunks.
