OBSERVATIONS OF A LEATHER SNOB
I am indeed kind of a leather snob. I love leather--if it is top quality. To illustrate: I have six (6) Hein Gericke leather motorcycle jackets, and a half dozen leather jackets from other manufacturers. They're too warm for southern California ten months of the year--I just go into my closet and stare at them and hope that I can wear them more often someday when I escape L.A.!! I simply love the idea that you have a piece of clothing which will potentially last generations. Good leather only gets better with age.I also started collecting belt buckles a few months ago. My original plan was to get some cool licensed Harley buckles and then put them on display. But things kind of got carried away and I started collecting an array of awesome vintage solid brass buckles. It finally occurred to me that it might be nice to wear some of them on occasion. But I needed some belts. I discovered this seller on Amazon and decided to give them a try. These "belts.com" BS-40 belts are pretty good. I've now bought about five of them and I'll buy a few more next month when I can budget them in. These are not merely "top grain" leather like you'd have in a pretty Italian wallet or a watch band. They are better than that. They are FULL GRAIN. These things would please Ben Cartwright and the boys from Bonanza. The leather is not split--they are the full thickness of the hide. This is very hard to get nowadays. It is basically what you would think of as saddle leather. I won't say they will last forever, but they will last a really long time.Your darn tootin' they smell like leather. I wish they would bottle that smell so I could dab it all over my pits and privates. It's an awesome organic smell of the Wild West and it bespeaks the quality of the leather.Yeah, these things are MADE IN CHINA, which is a major warning sign. That does kind of scare me, and you can see some of that in the production quality. For example, the inside and edges of the belts are rough. They are not finished on the inside very well. If you wear these with dress trousers it might wear on the loops and the waist fabric as you pass it through each day. I just pull the belt through very gently and hope for the best. And, the attached leather loop on two of my belts also shows some cracking in the surface finish. It's not real supple or thick leather there. You do have to look closely to see this deficit. Finally, I do notice some discoloration on the fabric of my lighter-colored trousers at the waist from where the belt's color is rubbing off or bleeding through. I'm just hoping that this staining comes off when I take the trousers to the cleaners. And maybe after enough use the bleeding will stop. I hope so. These are typical Chinese product type of issues--they always cut some corner to marginally lower costs. But I think the reality of the economics is that if these belts were made in Texas or Montana they would be going for $150 each. I hate sending good US dollars to China, but in this case at least you are getting a reasonably good product in exchange.Overall, for the price, you will have a hard time beating these. I have a Filson full-grain belt and it cost about five times what these do, and it isn't much better than this.BTW: I think most of the 1.5" belts by this belts.com are using the BS-40 belt and then they just attach a different buckle. I did buy a thinner belt ("Joe's" something or other; it's 1.25 inches wide) and it is also great leather. They didn't advertise that it was full grain, but it is. I also love that these things allow you to swap buckles. It's very easy to do--just unsnap the current buckle and swap it for your new buckle. I've found wearing different buckles is a lot of fun, just as you may wear a different watch every now and then. Go check out some of the buckles for sale, you may be surprised to find one that relates to one of your personal interests. Try to buy solid brass buckles, or sterling, as they last forever. You attach the thing to this BS-40 and you are good to go!!

Good for the price
Good for the price. Sizing seems accurate. The leather is of the softer variety; it’s floppy, not stiff. It will mold to your shape, sag, stretch slightly, and get abraded, but the belt does look good, and the snaps hold excellently. This is not a belt to pass down to your kids, but it is good for getting dirty and working hard. It’s comfortable, but expect to replace it within a year or two. It’s only for holding pants, not holsters or tool pouches, not for phone cases or bowie knives, and not for tape-measures or anything else that might weigh it down. Perfect under a tool belt, but definitely not a tool-belt itself.

I LIKED THIS BELT AT FIRST... BUT...
This belt seemed great at first until I noticed that the dye was staining my jeans and trousers. Everything else about the belt seemed good, the width, thickness and smoothness of the leather. However, this belt must've been hand dyed and not drum dyed otherwise the some of the dye would not have bleed onto my trouser waistband. Other than that, the belt has kept it's color and finish throughout. I still like this belt overall, just don't like the stained waistband on my trousers.

They advertised this as full grain so I have high expectations for its longevity
Time will tell but this looks like it is up to the standard of the first belt I needed to replace. It's pretty ridiculous how I even had to do research to learn what full grain is after going through 3 previous replacements that were about to tear apart after 2 weeks of use.I also acquired some swappable buckles from this supplier and I'm very satisfied with their quality.

Surprisingly good belt for the price!
Although not expensive at all, this belt is very nice looking and the quality is much better than you might expect. I got this for my ex-boyfriend because his old belt was literally falling apart. I was kinda broke at the time so I had to get as much bang for my buck as possible. I figured for $14 it would last at least a month or two until I could afford to get him something better. I know for a fact that he wore it daily from the time I gave it to him in July of 2013 until he dumped me for some elderly skank he started boinking behind my back the minute I stopped focusing 110% of all my time and energy on him and his problems (which were shallow and few) and needed a little emotional support to come back my way from him due to a very stressful and very emotionally draining family issue of my own. He threw me out on my ass with nothing (he even tried to keep my dog and my car) in February of 2014, at which time he was still wearing the belt every day and it was still looking practically new except for being much more supple and less stiff than it was when I first gave it to him. One of our mutual friends has remarked that my ex is still wearing this belt, always with one of the several buckles I bought him to go with it, and that it still looks great. It also irks the medicare recipient hoor he is now shacking with to no end that he still wears it, which I hear he does when he is angry at her. I'm glad to hear my gift is holding up so well and is so useful to him, and I hope it continues to hold his pants up (cause god knows he sure can't do that by himself) for many years to come. Maybe when he is rotting in hell Satan will come up to him and be all like "Nice belt, dude!" right before buggering him with a red hot poker or a cactus or something. I would also be glad to hear that this lying, cheating, abusive wanklord is wearing this belt when he finds out the skanky old prostitute he dumped me for gave him antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea. My knight in shining armor turned out to be a narcissistic bag of douche wrapped in aluminum foil and that's sad but it is not in any way related to the superb quality of this excellent belt. If you are a guy and you need help keeping your pants up, I would reccommend remembering that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If you are also in the habit of wearing a belt, and prefer a belt you can easily find many different buckles for and switch buckles easily and often with no problem, this is a great belt for you. It is an attractive if understated belt that will wear well and look nice for at least a year of so, even with daily outdoor wear in a damp environment.

BS-40 Vintage Leather Belt
This belt definitely has that '60s, '70s appeal to it . . . . the edge's (for this day and age) could have had "Edge Coat" applied to the edges for that finished look instead of having a raw, unfinished look to the belt edges. Even though with the edges unfinished, this is still a top quality leather belt. I wouldn't hesitate buying another quality leather belt!
