Excellent item, worked perfectly!

Works perfectly on my 30001 series "Phat" PS2. I was concerned about preserving my humble collection of PS2 games as well as the hardware itself, as the laser units don't last forever. This allowed me to dump my BIOS for use with an emulator, as well as install an old 250GB 2.5" HDD using this SATA adapter designed specifically for the PS2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JFPSZJP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now all my games run from the HDD and the discs are safely stored away. PROS: Reasonable price. Has all the applications you'll need for homebrew, BIOS dumping, file management, and running your ISO files from a HDD instead of using the original game DVDs - preserving your games and hardware. CONS: (All minor, in my opinion) Comes with uLaunchELF which is older and no longer developed - wLaunchElf is the more current fork. Has an older version of OPL also. Generic 8MB MC, not a genuine Sony card, nor is it "Magic Gate" certified. The cons are not significant in my opinion. Although older, both uLanchELF and OPL worked fine and allowed me to achieve my goals as described above. You can pretty easily update all these applications if there are features/functions that you need for other, more involved tasks. I've read a lot of comments about the cheap, generic MCs simply not working, but so far this MC is working fine. I'm not writing to it, just reading, so that should increase longevity. Besides, I can just create my own FreeMcBoot MC on a higher-quality MC now if I felt it was necessary (which I don't). Definitely well worth the price and performed flawlessly. If you're looking for a quality Soft-Mod FreeMcBoot, this is it. Cheers!

Worked exactly as advertised! I was looking for a way to revamp my old ps2, and I found out about Free McBoot. It was super simple, plug and play, and easy to use! For less than $20 you can’t go wrong!

The card does what it's supposed to do, sorta. It comes with a very outdated version of OPL preloaded that doesn't support most features people would want these days like large HDD support, exfat file systems, etc. You have to install a new version of OPL to remedy this issue, and while that's not hard for someone tech savvy for some users it's likely going to be a big deal to do. If they would just update the card instead of sending ancient versions of the installed software it would be perfect.

Ottimo prodotto, facile da usare, ma necessita di un piccolo aggiornamento Recensione: Ho acquistato questo prodotto e sono rimasto molto soddisfatto. È facile da usare e i giochi si caricano perfettamente da chiavetta USB, a patto che sia formattata in FAT32. La memory card ha diverse applicazioni utili pre-installate, il che è un grande vantaggio. L'unico appunto che mi sento di fare riguarda la versione di OPL (Open PS2 Loader) inclusa: ho trovato la versione "10th Anniversary" del 2017 che, purtroppo, non funzionava molto bene con diversi giochi. Dopo aver aggiornato OPL alla versione 1.1.0, la situazione è completamente cambiata. Ora il caricamento dei giochi è perfetto e non ho riscontrato problemi. Attenzione per i meno esperti: L'aggiornamento di OPL non è un'operazione banale. Richiede un minimo di competenza, dato che si lavora direttamente sui file della memory card. Se non si presta attenzione, si rischia di eliminare file sbagliati, perdere OPL o, nel peggiore dei casi, cancellare l'intero sistema FreeMcBoot, rendendo la memory card inutilizzabile. In sintesi, è un ottimo prodotto che consiglio a tutti, ma tenete a mente che un piccolo aggiornamento di OPL è fortemente raccomandato per ottenere il massimo della compatibilità.
