Check out board game geek for many rule clarifications. good review on Amazon. ...My choice for which Everdell expansion to purchase first Bellfaire is an expansion that adds fabulous fun content to the base game of Everdell which both enhances normal gameplay and later blends well into the other expansions. Unlike Pearlbrook and Spirecrest, Bellfaire focuses on the main game board and is the first expansion I would recommend buying to expand your copy of Everdell. I say this because it builds so wonderfully onto the base game and makes only small changes that could be learned at the same time as the core game rules. New players could start off with Everdell and Bellfaire both together with no problems. Bellfaire will give you the option of expanding your games to 5 and 6 player counts which was a huge plus for us. Our monthly gaming group is 6 players and I’ve always wanted Everdell to be one of the games we can pull out for those nights, now we’re able to do that. There are small rule changes to account for more players and keep up the same pace and timing really well. You’ll play with 1 fewer worker, have a hand limit of 7 cards, and add more special events according to either 5 or 6 player counts. The new Bellfaire board is on optional game board you can use in place of the Evertree, and while I do love my Evertree and leave it set up and displayed on my gaming shelf, it does block views of the meadow and cards that are in play. In celebrating 100 years of Everdell you’ll use the Bellfaire board with its own special scoring objectives and worker placement spaces to tidy up your playing area a bit, make it more accessible and give fun new options for playing. The Bellfaire is a celebration, so a new basic event called the Flower Festival is added along with Garland Awards which are end game victory point conditions that all players may work toward. Lastly, the Market is a very interesting worker placement space that provides more access to the game’s resources in a give and take scenario. You may gain resources by selecting and available market token and moving it to the trade area, later an opponent or possibly you may then use the Market space during another season to trade off extra resources you may have accumulated for 3 point tokens and any 2 resources. In larger games the market is a valuable area to make use of, your plan to purchase a certain card might not work out and the Market provides a great way to shift and sell resource for points and set up for a new strategy. The biggest addition in Bellfaire and my personal favorite is the introduction of asymmetric player powers, with each player taking on the role of one of the 15 different types of critters you’ll find spread among Everdell and its 3 expansions. I would classify these as being light asymmetry based, I personally don’t find any of the powers to be overpowered and find they each have a nice balance; you will need to alter your strategy to accommodate your player power, otherwise you’ll lose a valuable advantage that only you have access to. As these are somewhat of an advanced addition to Everdell they are included as an optional way to play and I certainly recommend them only after you’re very familiar with the base game and its card combinations. Bellfaire is as I said my top pick for which expansion to purchase first, and as you later build the fantastic world of Everdell during your game sessions Pearlbrook and Spirecrest both play very well alongside it. Absolutely recommend adding this one as it adds so much to an already amazing game. The last 2 pages of the rulebook are absolute must reads for any who enjoy immersing yourself in the world itself!

Some people mention an expansion called newleaf and mistwood, are these not available in the us? I can’t find them…

Great expansion pack

This expansion pack to Everdell is awesome! It has taken the experience to a new level. You can now collect more resources and win extra points at the end of the game. I like the idea of the critters having superpowers. It adds to the fun of the game and introduces a new strategic element. By itself, Everdell is great, but this adds to the experience.

Great expansion, love being able to play with up to 6 players now.

The expansion adds enough new concepts to compensate for more players but still stays true to the original enough that the base mechanics aren't lost where you feel like its new game when you go back to the original.

Fun game. You will need the base game.

You will need the base game in order to play this. My 10 year old daughter asked for this for Christmas, as we have the base game, and loves it. This game takes some time to understand how to play, and you will need to block out a morning or afternoon, but it’s fun.

Needed expansion for base game

If you have the base game this expansion definitely helps aid in the fluidity of the original game. Have not played it more than 3 players with the expansion though.

Great Everdell Expansion with a module approach to adding to the base game and play area.

Great addition to the game and it just adds to the fun. The negative: it only requires the large play area be a little larger. Although, I would have to say, that it modularizes these new areas very well. If you're an Everdell fan, you can't go wrong with this expansion

Amazing game!

Love, love, love it! My family adores Everdell and Bellfaire is the best expansion. It was easy to combine with the base game and not too difficult to learn. We love the new events and the powers are super fun. The Market is also super useful once you remember you have it lol.
