Vellux C106245 Plush Full/Queen Tornado Gray Blanket

I bought this blanket because I had one for many years which recently gave up the ghost to a new puppy. It's most compelling feature was its ruggedness, but synthetics break down and I think I got my $$ worth out of it since it lasted 20 years or so. It was not warm when it was cold; it was not cool when it was hot. It did not breathe. It did wash up well, however. Mostly I stick to natural fibers for sheets and blankets. Anyway, I needed a new one for the dog situation and ordered one of these because it is Vellux and after reading all the info on Amazon. Well, the darn thing is comfortable, soft and seems to breathe and adjust to the ambient temperature, providing just enough weight and warmth to make for a restful sleep, even when it's quite warm. It washes well, the color (Sage) is true and clear. I like it so well I bought another. Time will tell if it is as rugged as its predecessor, but I may not care since it's so much better in all other ways!

My husband was a buyer for Gimbels years ago - which was when we first discovered Velux blankets. Soft and strong - lightweight and easy care. In the past few years, we tried to replace them and the quality had deteriorated. Little holes developed and they didn't hold up. THIS NEW VELLUX blanket (beautiful beige) is better than we remember. Softer. Very cuddly. Lightweight but warm enough. I hope it holds up better than the past ones. It seems more substantial. Fingers crossed because we really like it a lot.

I love this blanket! It is so soft and comfortable. Even though it is lightweight it will still be great for the winter months.

It's a darned shame they will no longer being making the Original Vellux blankets, as they are head and shoulders above the other kinds. The copy-cat ones that are still called Vellux blankets are made with some kind of microfiber or something and for someone like me, with curly hair, it turns it into a fly away mess with the static electricity, no matter what I do. The Original ones are made of nylon and don't do that. I have tons of them, but now they are going away, like every other good product that comes on the market!

I had purchased a Vellux "original" and hated it, so was hoping this version was much better. It is! Soft, warm, and the full/queen size does indeed fit either size bed! I wouldn't call this blanket "lightweight" but I prefer a blanket you can feel on you anyway. This one feels great, washed and dried like a champ, and seems like it will last a long time.

This blanket is not what I thought I was buying. I don't buy much and the old Vellux blankets I have are at least 10 to 15 years old. They are all of a different make up. Their tags say nylon. The texture is a more raised feeling. Very lightweight, but warm. That is what I wanted. This blanket is nothing but a fleece blanket. How a blanket feels to the touch is very important to me. This "fleece" one doesn't work for me. I did wash it and it did not shed any at all. It is soft but heavier than my older Vellux blankets. On line in the description details, it doesn't say fleece at all. That is misleading. On the package when I received it, it says fleece. I washed it so I'll have to keep it. From now on I'll go to the stores and try to find the real Vellux like the old ones. As for size 90"x90" is standard for both full and queen. Not enough blanket to tuck under. A king size works great, but almost twice the price. I've found that if you don't see the item in person, you probably won't get everything you want. Good luck.

I'm not too fond of heavy or bulky blankets at any time of the year. I move around a lot when sleeping and need the space to do so. This becomes a problem when the colder seasons approach. I went back to my memories of my childhood home and just wanted a soft, warm blanket. Fortunately, I probably found the same brand that mom and dad purchased back in the day. This blanket is exactly what I was looking for: warm, not bulky, and soft to the touch. I love it and just ordered a second twin size for my guest bedroom.
